Bridal Inspiration Board #50 ~ Winter Rose

Following their fabulous and so easy even I could to it little 'Make your own Christmas Bauble's' DIY tutorial of yesterday, those lovely ladies Michelle and Vicki of Pocketful of Dreams are back again this morning with some fabulously glamorous inspiration for all you winter wedding lovers…

Hello Everyone,

Well Winter has certainly arrived this week, with minus temperatures and snow on the ground for a lot of you out there.  We're constantly inspired by the environment around here us at Pocketful of Dreams and so this colder weather has us dreaming of frosty landscapes and the deep dramatic colours that winter inevitably brings with it, from nature to fashion and interiors.  So today's mood board is all about embracing the beauty of Winter with a rich and sumptuous colour palette…

This sultry colour palette is full on drama with shades of midnight blue, ruby red and dusky purple providing the perfect look for a seasonal winter wedding or celebration.  Use the colours as accents against a backdrop of frosty whites and silvers to create a look which embraces both the vibrancy and the delicacy of the Winter rose.

This look is all about celebrating bold and beautiful femininity but with such strong colours your groom won't feel excluded either.

Heart  The Winter bride needs to not only look her best but also give some thought to practicality; nobody wants to suffer from hypothermia on their wedding day!  This stunning Estella long sleeve gown from Temperley London is the perfect dress  - the full length and long sleeves will offer a degree of protection against the elements whilst the simplicity of the cut with beautiful silver neckline detail will ensure you stand out as a delicate rose amongst your strong Winter palette.

Heart  The high neckline and long sleeves of this gown mean that you don't need a lot of jewellery for this look but opt for a pair of high drama earrings such as this stunning drop set featuring amethyst and rubies from The Corner, complemented of course by deep red lips for a sultry yet sophisticated look.

Heart  Pair your dress with dark heels for a hint of colour as you walk down the aisle.  These midnight blue platform pumps from Anya Hindmarch at The Corner are oh-so-stylish and I love their metallic sheen.

Heart  Pick one of the dramatic colours from your palette to dress your maids in or if you have a few bridesmaids, allow them to each pick a shade to dress in.  Choose dresses with cut out detail to avoid solid blocks of these strong colours, like this one from Asos, but don't forget your maids also need to wrap up warm. A fur coat, shawl and most definitely tights are the order of the day, check out Wolford for some beautiful designs, and a lovely present for your maids too.

Heart   Really go to town with your florals for this look; embrace the rose of course but also look to use other jewel coloured blooms such as anemones, ranunculuses, red and viburnum berries, displayed in pewter vases.  Use silver brunia, eucalyptus and evergreen boughs to add a frosty accent and a hint to the festive season.

Heart   Intersperse your floral displays with fruits; sugared cranberries and red apples will add a fabulous frosted touch to your tables.  Display them in low dishes or piled on pewter platters and wash your table in candlelight with mercuried silver votives and candlesticks holding midnight blue candles.

Heart   For your stationery, choose a luxurious heavy stock in a midnight blue and opt for white spiky calligraphy for a frosted look.  Pay homage to the season with cute little touches such as the little snowflake above the "i" in the card above.

Heart  And you can even extend your styling into your food and drink.  Instead of a traditional wedding cake, opt for a tower of cheeses in dark red and purple waxes, finished with a sprig of holly and a cluster of pinecones.  And why not serve a signature cocktail like Raspberry and Rum Iced Tea or a Winter Pimm's infused with spices and orange peel?  These drinks will not only look the part but provide a much needed shot of warmth for you and your guests.

We love this high-octane look, perfect for the bold and confident bride and hope you love it too. Please do let us know in the comments box below.
