Drop Dead Glamorous ~ A Greek, Irish and Vintage Inspired Wedding

Happy Friday afternoon everyone!  Have you seen this morning’s dreamy inspiration boards yet?

I’m so excited about sharing this wedding with you. It’s made me smile like a goon the whole way through preparing this post!  Sarah-Jane and Costas tied the knt on 18 August 2012 at The Priory Barn in Little Wymondley,  Hertfordshire.  The couple’s wedding was styled with vintage touches, but also incorporated aspects of Greek Cypriot (Costas) and Irish (Sarah-Jane) culture.

I was first alerted to this wedding by the very talented dress designer, and Love My Dress sponsor, Dana Bolton, who was responsible for creating Sarah-Jane’s gown.  Good God, does Sarah-Jane not ooooooze Marilyn Monroe style sex appeal and drop dead glamour in this gown? I looooooove it!

“I always wanted a 1950’s style wedding dress and when I came upon Dana Bolton’s website I knew she could make the wedding dress of my dreams.

My headpiece was designed by Sahar Freemantle at Ugly Lovely…”

“Costas and I met through an on-line dating website, Guardian Soulmates. We became engaged in April 2011, when Costas proposed at the Trevi Fountain in Rome.

“We hired Gadsden Flowers – a local florist who knew the venue and understood the vintage style. Incorporating the surroundings of the barn, flower displays for the vintage teapots source from charity shops and birdcages (bought from Matalan) displays...”

“Our photographer was Steve Gerrard.  We were impressed with Steve’s photography at our friends wedding in 2010. We met with Steve for an engagement shoot where he understood the style of photographs we wanted.
He managed to capture all aspects of the wedding and made taking the photos fun and interesting.

“Our first dance was to Florence and the Machine’s ‘Dog Days’.  It’s a song we first listened to spoke about together. The chorus singing that the dog days are now over, so for us the dog days were now over as we are together and married!”
