Oh Cherry Baby! ~ 1950’s Inspired Retro Americana Romance

I fancied a little Friday morning fun today, and just the ticket were these cheeky images sent in by Jenny of stationery and paper goods designer, In the Treehouse.  The photoshoot was actually co-ordinated by photographer Emma Solley and the concept, coordination and styling is down to the talented folk over at Inspire
Hire
.

I love how these fun and bright, 1950's retro Americana inspired images pay homage to the romantic theme of Valentines week.  Just a little something to make you smile this Friday morning.  I spoke with Eleanor Winsor Grime of Inspire Hire who is responsible for the concept and styling of this shoot…

"As a wedding stylist and hire company, Inspire Hire frequently helps brides to design the look of their wedding using the influences of some of their favourite things or interests. I indulged myself with this shoot by basing it around one of my own favourite things – cherries!

I pulled together this vibrant shoot to showcase some of the very best suppliers that the West Country has to offer. I knew that by combining those talents we could demonstrate the kind of look often seen in glossy magazines of beautiful American weddings but using only details and providers available right here in the South West. I also wanted to show how incorporating vintage or retro elements into the look of your day can create both a contemporary and stylish wedding."

"Our models Rhett and Emerald (Emerald was actually married at Muddifords) were made to look beautiful by the lovely duo from The Pop up Salon.  They are a tremendous team who can swoop in and simultaneously style a bride's hair and makeup. They created a glam fifties inspired look for Emerald."

"When I started planning the shoot I sent over a mood board of ideas to Jenny from In the Tree House, a wedding stationery and paper goods specialist, and she came up come a some beautiful stationary that captured the American/retro look I wanted to create.  The black, white and cherry red stationary is fun and quirky…"

"Little pails of cherries with cherry flags were juicy favours for
our guests. The In the Tree House stationary picked up the stripes from
the lovely wide ribbons that I tied around the napkins and of the
flowing material used as tiebacks adorning the elegant Ghost Chairs.
We used little cherry name tags and beautiful menus to provide added
wow factor to the table, as well as cherry coloured water glasses and
tea light holders to add further splashes of red onto the white
backdrop."

"The talented Sarah Treble who is based in Exeter designed our beautiful dresses – her designs have the most amazing and delicate details. Holly Young's   stunning hats finished off Emerald's look."

"Nicola from The Pink Elephant Cake Co.  and I came up with an American inspired dessert table with a fun stripy cloth, yummy popcorn, cherry pies, whoopie pies and tasty layered Red Velvet cake.  Nicola even made some amazing cherry cake pops!"

"Our beautiful images are courtesy of the supremely talented Emma Solley, a fabulous photographer who seemed able to see right into my mind to capture exactly the look I wanted. Her ability to do this with her wedding couples is what makes her such an amazing wedding photographer. Emma is such fun to work with; she puts everyone at ease immediately."

"When helping couples style a wedding we often try to create fun
elements in the styling that will also entertain their guests as part of
the day. I come up with lots of themed 'help yourself'  bars, which
guests always love.

This one had a cherry twist with berry flavoured soft drinks and
cocktails served in glamorous retro Champagne saucers or cute jam jars
with fun heart patterned straws and some more cherry flags from
In the Treehouse. I made a backdrop of red and white fans to show off the
venue's beautiful barn door."

"Our florist Jenny Rose Flowers (who created these amazing buttonholes that featured on Love My Dress earlier this week) produced some beautiful red and white flower arrangements, displayed in both the mock milk glass vases that I had made and some pretty bark covered tea light holders from Inspire Hire. For our ceremony room she also made a beautiful feature arrangement in a compote bowl filled with mouth-watering cherries and luscious plums…"

"Muddifords Court in Devon is a truly fabulous wedding venue. The red stone manor house with a cobbled courtyard and two beautiful barns was the setting for our shoot. The beautiful stone and timber of the courtyard made the perfect rustic backdrop."

"The talent on offer in the region never ceases to astound me and I'm so proud to work alongside such creative people. I hope this shoot goes some little way to showcasing what is on offer to brides in the beautiful South West, but also inspires Love My Dress readers who love the 1950's style are looking for inspiration for their own wedding days."
