A Full Circle Skirt Wedding Dress For a Pretty Village Wedding Celebration

I love a full-circle skirt – all the swooshing and swaying, so Carrie Bradshaw, so much fun!

Charlotte and Danny tied the knot on 2nd June at St Andrews Church Foxton, followed by a marquee at Robert Monk Hall in Foxton and Charlotte looked just perfect in her full circle skirt dress, a design by Justin Alexander that she chose to have in coffee colour…

"My dress was Justin Alexander 8465
in coffee.  Being 5ft 2” a lot of the dresses I tried on drowned me,
but when I tried on this dress I just loved the length! I first tried it
on in all ivory and whilst I loved the style and the length I just
didn’t feel it was different enough for me. As soon as I saw the picture
of the coffee version I just knew it was perfect!

I had a waist length tiered veil with pearl detail."

"Having a shorter dress meant I needed amazing shoes!! I went for the Francesca shoes by Emmy."

"We met at work in 2005, I had just finished uni and joined the production company where Danny worked as a cameraman. We got to know each other on our Friday, after work drinking sessions in the local pub. We soon realised we had similar taste in music and more often than not we’d stay out till the early hours, dancing the night away!

Despite me saying it was just a ‘fling’ we have been together ever since!Danny proposed to me in Liverpool in January 2011. I had taken Danny away for the night to celebrate his 30th birthday and we were staying in the Beatles ‘Hard Days Night Hotel’, after a day of sightseeing and a few ‘Strawberry Fields’ cocktails we headed to the hotel restaurant where Danny popped the question and pulled the ring out of his sock!"

"Our florists were Knighton Flowers.  We wanted the flowers to have a pretty, vintage feel and we went for a mix of amnesia and quicksand roses with cream peonies- the colours matched the muted tones of the bridesmaid dresses perfectly."

"Danny rarely wears a suit so he knew he didn’t want to go down the traditional tails route. He opted for a navy slim fit Paul Smith suit. As we were going for a vintage feel Danny chose to wear a navy knitted bow tie. I bought him some cufflinks to wear on the day – they were silver guitar plectrums that said ‘All you need is love’."

"After searching for the right colour shoes to go with the bridesmaids dresses we ended up with satin court shoes from Debenhams.

I bought the bridesmaid dresses on a bit of a whim! Whilst wedding dress shopping in Birmingham House of Fraser- I saw the dresses in Pied a Terre. As they also had my dress in the same store it meant I could test the colour of the dresses next to mine  and they looked perfect and flower pattern on the dresses was just perfect for my vintage theme!"

"I was struggling to find flower girl dresses as I just didn’t feel ivory dress would fit well with my dress and the bridesmaid dresses; in the end I opted to have them made at Pretty Maids in Leicester. They made beautiful blush pink dresses with big tulle skirts!"

"My parents live in Foxton, an idyllic village in Leicestershire and as a couple we have so many great memories there, we didn’t think about getting married anywhere else bar Robert Monk Hall which is in the same village."

"Our photographer was Sarah Salotti. Choosing Sarah was probably the easiest decision whilst wedding planning! Sarah is a friend of my sisters and I had seen some of her photos a few years ago when she had photographed a friend’s wedding. I loved the relaxed style of her photos and as soon as we got engaged we knew we wanted Sarah to photograph our wedding. And we are so glad she did, the photos capture the day perfectly!"

"Mango Acoustic played during our ceremony and drinks reception. The Supertones played in the evening   It only takes five minutes to get to the church from my parents so we didn’t want to spend a fortune on transport,  the local farmer volunteered his vintage Ford Dexter tractor and our florist decorate the trailer with flowers and big tulle bows."

"We had 100’s of meters of bunting!! We decorated all the archways in the marquee with flowers and also lots of decoration hanging from the arches.

For the tables we collected lots of different shape and sized mercury glass vases to create a relaxed feel for the flowers. For the drink reception in my parent garden we hung lots of white twig hearts from the trees which looked gorgeous- and they are still up now!"

"Our first dance track was Paul Weller Thinking of You, my friend made me a CD a few years ago with the song on it – me and Danny played the CD whilst we went on a camping trip and loved it, we always joked that it would be our first dance! Straight after the first dance, Danny surprised me by joining the band to play guitar to our favourite song– Artic Monkeys, I bet you look good on the dance floor!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Make sure the day reflects both of you- we really wanted the day to be a celebration, and it really was a great party!

We just wanted the day to a vintage feel with a touch of glamour. We also really wanted the day to have celebration feel to it- for the toast we gave everyone a miniature bottle of Lanson Champagne and each table were given party poppers , to get the atmosphere going during the speeches. During the evening, we had some funny masks and blow-up guitars out and everyone loved them and they made some great photos!"
