A Coral, Colourful Village Fete Inspired Wedding

Good morning everyone, it's been a little while since we first shared the work of photographer Dale Weeks on Love My Dress (remember this bare foot, blue wedding dress beauty?) so we're really happy today to be featuring this lovely coral colour explosion that was photographed by Dale back in September last year.

Steve and Mariana tied the knot on 7th September at Shenley Cricket Club in Hertfordshire.  Their day was bright and bold and full of love and laughter an blended a mix of English and Brazilian (Mariana's birth country) culture.

"We wanted the day to be very relaxed, fun and have a bit of village fete feel. Neither of us is religious, but I’m Brazilian and Steve is English, so we wanted some little touches from both cultures. We used coral as I’m a bit obsessed with the colour and wouldn’t have it any other way."

"Steve and I met at work some eight years ago. We’ve been together for six and a half years, and living together for four. Steve fixed my computer one day and love happened! He proposed to me in January 2012 on top of one of the hills around Windermere. It was such a beautiful winter day."

"Shenley Cricket Club was the first venue we visited, although I saw hundreds online. It was leafy, beautiful, near London and provided a wonderful blank canvas for us to style. The hire fee was also good."

"I was initially planning to do all the flowers myself, so I headed to New Covent Garden flower market to arrange it all the day before the wedding. Thankfully I changed my mind as the stress levels just before the wedding were insane! We opted for our local florist, the Urban Flower Company. They were incredibly helpful, lovely to deal with and their work was stunning."

"My dress was by Augusta Jones and I purchased it from Morgan Davies Bridal in Angel. I was totally set on the idea of having a budget dress at first, however, I simply fell in love with this one – and in the end, the budget dresses just didn't cut it.

Morgan Davies Bridal was the second shop I went to and I fell in love with it. There are very few dresses in the market which are a bit more covered up on top while also being fitted – I found that far too many gowns were simply strapless."

"My bridesmaids dresses were from Coralie Beatrix on Etsy.  As I wanted the colour to be slightly more coral, I had them dyed via Prestige Dyers. The bridesmaids loved their dresses! They were fabulous."

"I found Dale while looking for photographers online. I’m very picky with my photographs as photography is a hobby of mine and I fell in love with Dale Weeks' pictures on his website. Thankfully he was available! We met up prior to the wedding and we maintained contact throughout the whole process. On the day he was such a pleasure to be around, and I couldn’t be happier with his work. I totally recommend him."

"My sister did my make-up. We went to MAC for a master class beforehand which worked really well. The make-up artists were very expensive.  My hair stylist was Ayla at Hairlab. She is my hairdresser and she was amazing. Even Dale said he had never seen a bride with hair as beautiful as mine."

"My mum made all the napkin holders and the table centres where the bottles sit. She also bought the fabric for the bunting and got them made. Steve and I hand styled every single bottle – all 70 of them! We wrapped them in yarn/twine which took forever. The secret was to use double sided sticky tape!"

Crafting brides – take note!

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

“We wanted to incorporate lots of personal touches in to our wedding day – but these were the ones which caused the most stress. I would advise paying someone else to do them to help avoid stress in the run up to your wedding day.

Make sure you enjoy the day too – only invite your closest friends and family, and make sure you don’t have anything to do the next day – you will be exhausted!

Finally, be mindful of your budget."
