Claire Pettibone and Emmy Shoes: A Touch of Wedding Heaven At ‘The Castle’

I couldn't let this week slip by without sharing a little news with you all the way from L.A.  A few months back my friend and favourite shoe designer, Emmy Scarterfield, founder of Emmy Shoes asked if I wouldn't mind putting her in touch with one of my favourite ever dress designers, Claire Pettibone.  I was delighted of course – how these two hadn't crossed paths before now surprised me – given their mutual love of similar, elegant, ethereal, magical bridal style.

Skip forward just a few months and Emmy was in touch again to ask if I could share details of this event at 'The Castle' (Claire Pettibone's glorious new flagship boutique) on our Facebook page – I was delighted of course; of the near quarter a million people who 'like' our Facebook page, a good portion of them are American, so it made sense to promote this event to our US readers.  Behind the scenes I was absolutely thrilled to pieces that I'd been able to connect two of my design idols together.  These photographs arrived in my inbox this week – a few shots taken from the event, which clearly illustrate how perfectly partnered Claire Pettibone gowns are with the ever-beautiful Emmy shoes.

I chatted briefly with Claire Pettibone this week and here is what she had to say about the event; 'We had an amazing time with Emmy, and our brides adore her collection (what’s not to love?!). At this point we are exploring how we might work together, and hope to share some exciting news later this year. For now this was a special event and a good test to see the response, and I would say, it was definitely a hit! Emmy’s vintage inspired style is a perfect fit for my collection, and the shoes truly are works of art.'

'We had several brides order bespoke shoes and matching bags. Most of our clients do go with a luxury shoe to complete their ensemble, and Emmy offers a unique style and extraordinary quality for our brides. We were thrilled to welcome Emmy here to the castle, and thanks to Annabel for giving me the first look at her work on her beautiful blog!'

What makes Emmy's shoes stand out for me is the level of intricate detail and craftsmanship. Just look at the decoration on the back of this shoe – how incredibly elegant!

I also caught up with Emmy to find out how the event went.  'It was an absolute delight from start to finish, I absolutely loved it! I was so delighted when Claire invited me to LA!  The dress collection and the setting at The castle is 'blow you away' beautiful! Claire and I share a mutual love of all things gorgeous, so as you can imagine we got on like a house on fire! Claire and her team made us feel so welcome, it really did feel like a home from home and we left feeling like we'd made some great new friends.

It was so wonderful to see the whole bridal look from head to toe come together – one bride looked so beautiful she made us all cry!'

I spy headpieces below from one of the most talented artisan crafts people I know – Sophia of Lila Accessories, who we profiled here last year (she crafts the most glorious floral headpieces out of clay – I know, we couldn't believe it either!).

Emmy Shoes really are the perfect finishing tough to the Claire Pettibone collection, and I look forward to sharing these two ladies creative journey together in the future – as Claire says, more news to follow later this year, so watch this space ladies!

  1. I love Emmy! She was hands down my favourite wedding supplier. I got my shoes and headpiece from Emmy and it was such an enjoyable experience. She is such a lovely person and her wee shop in islington is like an aladdins cave of gorgeousness!
