Ladies, have you picked out dresses for your bridesmaids yet? I remember how challenging it was dressing my sister and two best friends for our wedding in 2012. How I wish I'd known about Maids to Measure back then. Not only can you design your own dress, you can have them made to your bridesmaids' exact measurements. Genius!
'Maids to Measure aims to do away with all the bad things bridesmaids had to put up with in the past, transforming the whole process into a really fun experience. The studio is like a massive dressing up box with champagne and cakes. Girls have a truly fantastic time here and make some wonderful memories.'
Sisters Sinclair and India Sellars started the British brand after Sinclair was bridesmaid three times in one year.
'It seemed like there were very few companies focusing on bridesmaids, and certainly none of them were British. Moreover, what should have been a fun and memorable experience was hugely stressful each time.'
With this bad experience in hand and having heard similar tales of woe from lots of other brides, Sinclair and India set about creating Maids to Measure. By catering for maids of all shapes and sizes, including maternity maids, they have helped change bridesmaid dress shopping forever.
So how does it work? Well, at your appointment with your maids you will have access to lots of samples for them to try. Once you've formed some initial ideas, you can then play around with different shaped skirts, sleeves, sashes, fabrics and colours to create a dream dress for your girls.
'We're very lucky as it's the brides that design the dresses so our inspiration comes from them. We also take a handful of these designs and put them into production for our off the peg range, Maids to Order. These dresses are all named after the first bride who had them!
'Maids to Measure is so versatile and we are constantly introducing new fabrics, colours and styles, to ensure we're evolving all the time. We have some new designs coming up this spring that are extremely exciting for us.'
Maids to Measure's excellence was quickly recognised when it launched in 2012 and after only 6 months the brand won Best Newcomer in The Wedding Industry Awards. The following year it was awarded Best Bridal Retailer in London and more recently it was crowned Best Bridesmaid Retailer at the Your & Your Wedding Awards 2014. Maids to Measure has also dressed the likes of Katherine Jenkins and is now well on its way to becoming a firm favourite with celebrities.

"I was adamant that all my beautiful girls should feel comfortable and suitably fabulous on the big day, and toyed with the idea of giving them a colour and getting them to choose their own dresses independently, but it would have been a shame to miss out on the group shopping extravaganza. Being out in Geneva added an extra element to the challenge, and my girls were spread between Cardiff, London, Windsor, Cheltenham and Cambridge, which meant that a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach would work really well. My lovely sister-in-law (to be, at that point) Kate discovered Maids to Measure, which solved our problem!
The ladies at Maids to Measure sent me swatches so I could decide on colour, and the girls perused the website to check out designs. We met with them in Cardiff to try on some sample gowns, get measured, and then the girls each picked a different dress, which would be made in the same colour. A couple of the girls visited the London HQ for quick alterations, and we were good to go!"

"I had heard about Maids to Measure on Love My Dress so decided to visit them with my seven bridesmaids to see what they could offer. After a glass of bubbly and a few yummy cupcakes, we had shortlisted our choices to two dresses! As I had seven bridesmaids, we felt it would look great if we had two different styles. We chose 'Charlotte' and 'Penelope' and they were so beautiful.
Maids to Measure allow you to choose your perfect colour and the girls had a fitting six weeks before the wedding which was great as we all knew they fitted perfectly! The girls loved the dresses. They looked so elegant and I was so pleased with the quality and service."

"I chose Maids to Measure dresses after reading a glowing report on Love my Dress and seeing that they had won the Wedding Industry Award for Best Newcomer. They were brilliant as my order had a tight turn around but they accommodated everything I asked for. I chose the ‘Georgina’ design in Grape – a lovely dusky purple. I felt they were very elegant and had a bit of an ‘old Hollywood’ feel to them."
