Claire Pettibone for an Elegant French Bride and her 1930s Inspired Wedding

We’re sharing just two posts today – everyone is settling into holiday period mode, so we’re keeping it easy.  Our final post for today is one of the most beautiful wedding films I have ever soon.  Sent in by French film makers Trianon Wedding Photography and Filmmaking, it features bride France-Laure and her beau Mario who tied the knot 1930s style at the Château de la Thibaudière earlier this year.

France-Laure, writer behind French Blog The French Spot looks utterly wonderful in her divine Claire Pettibone gown, and I’m beyond smitten with this film and photographs that capture the essence of a very special wedding indeed.

This is just sublime, I adore the moments they turn to each other emotionally and say ‘oui’.

Gwendoline of Trianon Wedding Photography and Filmmaking told me ‘The church wedding probably was their most beautiful moment. It might sound a bit clichéd (we don’t think so!), but when they saw each other for the first time there, everyone cried. You just need to watch the movie to see for yourself!’

‘We were so delighted to immortalise the glorious wedding of France-Laure and Mario – theirs is such a beautiful love story, and we feel honoured to be able to share it with Love My Dress.’

‘We first met the couple in a Parisian café where we chatted about their various expectations for their big day, and of course about the proposal. Mario had put together a fabulous week-end trip to Barcelona for France-Laure to explore its winding lanes and its delicious tapas restaurants. After having ordered in secret a bottle of Champagne he proposed, on the patio of their hotel room, down on one knee like a true gentleman.’

‘France Laure and Mario wanted their wedding to be 1930s style elegant, so it was really important for them that their guests dressed smartly! The 30s are well-known for their elegant fashions for both men and women, and thus they decided to ask their guests to come dressed accordingly.  France Laure writes a French fashion blog, which she used as an inspirational scrapbook when planning her wedding, so that everyone could add a hint of 30s to their own flair.’

‘As the couple live in Paris, it wasn’t easy for our two lovers to find the ideal venue. That’s why they asked Mario’s mum – an authority on interior design, to find one for them. The magic really kicked in once she discovered Château de la Thibaudière.  It’s the ultimate wedding venue, providing an intimate setting with a historial backdrop, and the hosts are wonderful.’

‘For her dress, France Laure had absolutely fallen in love with designer Claire Pettibone’s wedding dresses. As her creations aren’t available in France, she chose to mix a little business with pleasure and go shopping in London to find and purchase her gown.  Once there, and after having tried on a series of dresses, she found the perfect gown: with its open back and its champagne embroidery and lace. The dress was finished only a few days before the big day, and Mario’s brother, who lives in London, was assigned with the very important task of escorting it to the venue.’

‘As for Mario, he had always wanted to marry in a dinner jacket, but he didn’t want it to be entirely black. He took some inspiration from Daniel Craig’s suit in Skyfall, and used a dark blue fabric with a strip of black satin, adding a series of small details to give his Pernac suit an air of the 1930s – trousers with pleats and large cuffs, and no vent at the back of the jacket. Finally, the essential accessory was the champagne Borsalino panama hat, with a band matching the suit, and the two-coloured shoes to match the dress code of the day.’
