Burlap and Bunting for a Village Fete Inspired Wedding

Hello lovelies.  We’ve time for one final feature this week, and it had to be a real wedding of course.  Oliver and Helen tied the knot on 9th August last year with a ceremony at St Georges Hall followed by a reception at Huyton and Prescott Golf Club – both in Liverpool.  The couple were inspired by the concept of a village fete – think a lovely relaxed atmosphere, trellis tables, lots of burlap and bunting.

"We wanted a very relaxed feel to our wedding, with lots of handmade touches, and we really wanted the wedding to reflect our personalities. The theme that had inspired us was that of village fete – long tables, bunting, china teacups etc.  So in January we started to collect and make things for our wedding in August."

“Oliver and I have been together for ten years when we finally got engaged in June 2012, in the Lake District.  We were on a long walk in the most horrendous weather conditions – I'm talking ridiculous heavy rain and we were both literally soaked from head to toe – and there on a hike, Oliver got down on one and proposed!

It was and still is the most surreal moment of my life! It was the best day and the weather only added to the story and made it all the more memorable.”

“We had spent a lot of time searching for somewhere to get married and trying to find the perfect venue. We'd already got our reception venue sorted, but when we walked into the Concert room at St Georges Hall in Liverpool we both knew this was where we'd become married.  I even got butterflies when I walked into the room!  It's such a stunning venue – it has a gorgeous backdrop and had all the potential to be styled and transformed for our village fete/country style wedding.”

Helen wore the Jenny Packham 'Aspen' gown that she purchased from Eternity Bridal Wear Warrington.

“They were fantastic in the shop, I got my alterations done here too and couldn’t have been happier.  I loved the Jenny Packham collection of wedding dresses and knew I would buy one of her designs. I saw this dress online and fell in love with it, then I went to see it in the flesh and knew when I tried it on it was the one.”

“We hired Fiesta Flowers in St. Helens.  We wanted a mix of wild flowers and lots of Gypsophilia, and Meghan the florist captured this for me. I didn’t want anything too structured.”

“Our photographers were One Wedding.  They were absolutely fantastic, the photographs and wedding video are superb and we now have these amazing memories for life. They captured the day perfectly.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

“My advice would be, think about what you and your husband want. The day is about the two of you remember. Enjoy every moment of planning and don’t let stress get the better of you. It’s just one day and no matter what you'll have the best day of your lives.”

That just leaves me to say, have a really lovely weekend everyone.
