Sad Goodbyes and Warm Welcomes: All Change at Love My Dress

Happy Bank Holiday everyone! I really do hope you’re having a super lovely weekend so far, the sun has shone down on us here in Whitby – I feel so very lucky to have been able to spend some precious time with my husband and little girls.  Yesterday I shared the exciting news that we are looking for our first team of Interns and hinted at big changes afoot at Love My Dress.  Today, I have a mixture of news to share as we finish one chapter and start another.

My lovely friend and colleague, Franky, who has been my right hand lady for two years now, providing invaluable support in managing my business, is leaving Love My Dress to pursue what I know will be a brilliant career in copy writing.  I won't deny I shed a tear or two when she told me.  Franky has become more than a colleague, she has become someone I trust, admire and respect, and I am so happy that we have also become great friends, and that this friendship will hopefully be one that lasts a lifetime.

Franky came to work for Love My Dress in 2012 after an advert I placed on the blog for an Intern.  She had read Love My Dress regularly whilst planning her wedding – an occasion I was so thrilled to be able to share back in January 2012.  Franky's intern application shone through in so many ways, and reading back through it now, it's clear even then that my talented friend would always follow her dreams of being a writer, so in truth, it wasn’t a huge surprise to hear Franky would be leaving.

‘I adore writing. It's my dream to be able to one day make a living from it.’

And being one of the most glamorous ladies I know, it was always fun knowing I could indulge my love of dressing up whenever I was lucky enough to spend time with Franky, like when we picked up the first official award for Love My Dress back in 2012, and again more recently when we got to hang out together at the You & Your Wedding awards in January. And I don't think anyone else I know or have ever known pulls off Audrey style elegance quite like Franky!

Having had the opportunity to not just work my own dream job, but work for myself and be my own boss, I completely understand and positively encourage Franky’s commitment to pursue her own path. Being surrounded by so many woman who have created their own successful businesses is most definitely one of the benefits of this job and I take so much pleasure from seeing my friends achieve their goals and aspirations.

Happily, Franky won’t be casting off entirely as she will continue to write some content for Love My Dress® while we wait for another new team member to start in June (watch out for news of the talented new writer and social media community manager joining our team soon).  I know that you will agree that Franky has played a key role in the success of Love My Dress® in the past two years, and that she’ll be very much missed.

Franky will be sharing a post, a week from today, about her decision to pursue her career dreams – I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you and I know you’ll be inspired by the big new life adventure Franky is about to embark upon.

In the meantime, I just want to say, Franky I will miss you and love you very much!

And so on to some good news! I’ve been dropping hints on social media and in my post of yesterday about the big changes afoot at Love My Dress® – by this time next month, things are going to be looking rather different around here and we’ll be phasing in other big improvements throughout the rest of the year too.  As part of this commitment to making sure Love My Dress continues to evolve, I’m absolutely thrilled to give an official welcome to my lovely friend and colleague, Lyndsey Nicholson, who joined the Love My Dress team last week. Lyndsey is going to be my right-hand woman for everything admin related and I’m so happy to have her calm organisational skills keeping Love My Dress® running smoothly.

So, this month means a sad goodbye but warm welcome to new team members too as big plans I've been working on for some months now begin to fall into place – things I've been wanting to achieve for a long time now, but have been waiting for the right time.  I'm so ready for this next part of the adventure.
