I simply adore wedding gowns with a vintage aesthetic. I love the shapes, the silhouettes, the flattering flow of the fabric and the fact that these gowns allow brides to really connect with an era or a period that they admire. With so many designers taking inspiration from the vintage patterns of the past, it takes something special to stand out from the crowd and that’s why today, I’m absolutely delighted to be able to introduce you to ‘Chelsea’, the new collection from London’s Vintage Atelier.
From their penthouse studio near St. Paul’s, designer Nafisa Nuri showcases her range of expertly crafted wedding dresses and accessories to discerning brides. The collection is romantic, feminine and sets out to perfectly compliment the wearer. “I look at the proportions, the colours, the shapes and the fabrics so that everything suits your personality, your body and your complexion. The result is a dress that becomes part of the bride,” says Nafisa.
The aim of creating a finished gown that becomes part of the bride without overpowering her is the central focus of Nafisa’s work. “I love details but I use them in moderation, leaving room for styling and for the bride herself. She is always the main feature of the look,” explains Nafisa. “My work is complete when you can’t imagine adding or removing even the smallest detail. Vintage Atelier brides look so perfect and beautiful yet are still their natural selves.”
The combination of vintage influences and modern detailing that runs through the designs have proved irresistible to clients and from this new ‘Chelsea’ collection, it’s easy to see why this is the case. From the fine cotton embroidered flounced hems and the delicate shoulder straps to the full skirts, playful or plunging necklines and stunning low-cut, embellished backs, there is just so much that steals your heart.
It is such a treat to see a combination of flirty, girlie knee-length dresses alongside long line figure hugging gowns so fans of all eras will certainly find something to cherish.
Aside from the bridal gowns themselves, Vintage Atelier’s collection of accessories is simply sublime. There are belts that add dramatic definition to waistlines, heirloom hairbands and delightfully delicate lace cap veils, capes and fingerless gloves complete the look. I have to admit to have a real weakness for the ethereal beauty of lace and these pieces send me into raptures.

Her specialised skills, couture beading and silk flower making, combine with flawless, super elegant designs. The resulting gowns really are something special with couture, high fashion, vintage and modern influences all blending together seamlessly to bring brides gowns that are beautiful, timeless and undeniably special.
Bridal gowns from Vintage Atelier start at £650 and peak at £2,200 whilst accessories are under £300. All items from the collections are customizable, usually at no cost or for a very small charge.
