Jenny Packham For A Classy and Elegant Celebration at Sezincote House

It’s Friday! But just because it’s the end of the week doesn’t mean we’re cutting back on beautiful content. Vivian and Phil tied the knot on 25th May 2014 at Sezincote House near Moreton-in-Marsh.  Their wedding was photographed by Ria Mishaal.

“Phil and I met at a mutual friend’s birthday. We were together five years when we decided to buy a house together, and Phil created a treasure hunt shortly after we moved in which ended in a surprise proposal.  We decided to get married in the Cotswolds as it’s a beautiful area and convenient for most of our friends and family to get to. Specifically, we chose Sezincote House as it’s a unique and stunning venue.

The day was inspired by my love of vintage style weddings and the venue provided the perfect backdrop.”

“Sam Copeland of Copelands Flower Company provided the flowers as well as the table decorations and Moroccan lamps. We went with big blousy flowers, like peonies, in assorted glass vases to give the centrepieces a softer more vintage feel. The corsages for the mums were orchids, a favourite flower of theirs and the men’s buttonholes incorporated thistles as the Groom is Scottish.”

“My dress was by Jenny Packham – I loved the simplicity of the front of the dress combined with the detailed sparkle around the back. I liked how it was elegant but also comfortable. Turns out it was great for dancing in too!”

“Our photographer was Ria Mishaal. Ria has been great and easy to work with both before and after the event as well as during the wedding. Ria and Jake were brilliant on the day, very discreet and they have taken amazing photos. She also has some wonderful albums and print options including prints in personalised wooden boxes.”

Gemma Sutton styled my hair and make-up.  She is an award winning make-up artist who did an amazing job. She also designed the hair accessory I wore for the wedding.”

“My dad walked me down the aisle to the sound of ‘The book of love’, originally by Magnetic Fields. We used the arrangement by Dominic Stichbury for Chaps Choir.”

“For readings, we had an extract from True Love by Robert Fulgham: ‘We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love’.”

We also had an extract from John Betjeman’s ‘Summoned by Bells’.  We had asked Phil’s dad to provide a reading for the ceremony. He kept it a secret so it was a surprise on the day. The reading is actually about a gloriously happy Sunday in May at Sezincote!”

“For favours, I filled miniature takeaway boxes with heart-shaped tablet (Scottish fudge) and a fortune cookie. These were finished with a personalised label. I mainly sourced these from Etsy and NotOnTheHighStreet.com “The florist, Sam, provided decorations for the venue.”

“I decided to create a cake and candy table. I love the curly whirly cake from Konditor and Cook so we bought some cakes and brownies from there. There were also jars filled with sweets and chocolates on tiered cake stands.”

“Our first dance was to Journey’s ‘Anyway you want it’. We wanted something fun. “Our favourite part of the day was the dancing – we had a full dance floor all night and it was great to see everyone having so much fun.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

“My advice would be to decide what’s really important to you about your wedding and don’t stress about the things that don’t make it onto the list. The day itself is a crazy whirlwind but just have fun and take a few moments here and there to take it all in.

On top of getting a good photographer, after the wedding organise a ‘dropbox’ for your friends and family to share all the photos they took too.”
