This is such a simple, sweet wedding! The bride looks stunning in a relaxed creation by talented designer and Love My Dress favourite Sally Lacock (the second time we have featured this particular dress in 2 weeks!) with a pretty wreath of white flowers in her hair. Set at Hendall Manor Barn in East Sussex, Claudia and Tas celebrated with friends and family on a perfect late August day.

As an Events Assistant, Claudia knew the look she wanted to achieve. “The first thing I decided was that I wanted flowers in my hair! We went for a rustic feel with lots of jars of flowers, a big willow heart on the stone wall intertwined with gypsophila, bunting and rugs outdoors and lots of homemade decorations. We didn’t have a colour theme. We wanted a relaxed wedding, a party more than anything. We searched for an intimate venue and fell in love with Hendall, a beautiful stone barn and gardens, set in the East Sussex countryside.”

The Wild Orchid was the talent behind Claudia’s amazing hair wreath and delicate floral styling. “We wanted to go for local suppliers and got on really well with Jeanne. We took photos of the sort of thing we were after – jars of flowers, gypsophila, whites, creams, pale pinks and blues and she created exactly what we were after.”

“I wanted a bohemian style dress, something to tie in with the flowers in my hair. I didn’t want a train and as soon as I saw the Isadora dress on the Sally Lacock website I knew it was the one. It was the first dress I tried on!”

I just adore the laid back yet glamorous look that Claudia created for herself. She looks like a blonde Grecian goddess! Those stunning gold sandals from LK Bennett pull it all together beautifully.

“We met in 2006 at a Farmers Market in London where we both worked. I sold cheese and Tas sold Danish delicacies with his mum (who is Danish). I ended up working for Tas’s mum Birgit – her plan was to get us chatting as we were both rather shy!  As I got to know Birgit, I also got to know Tas pretty well too! We got engaged on holiday in Italy in 2012 and had a year to plan the wedding.”

The day was captured on camera by Nic Serpell-Rand of Free-Range Wedding Photography.

“Nic was fantastic. He knew exactly the style of photography we were after for the wedding. We didn’t want too many photos with us posing. We wanted the photos to reflect the relaxed feel the day had as well as taking shots of all the decorations and little touches. It never felt like he was in the way, yet he managed to capture the whole day perfectly.”

Claudia dressed her bridesmaids in elegant frocks from Coast and her two super cute flower girls wore dresses from Monsoon. Her chic up-do was styled by Amy Sterling on the morning of the wedding. “My perfume on the day was Lime, Basil & Mandarin from Jo Malone. Mum bought me this for the wedding and it is a favourite scent for both of us.”

The bride walked down the aisle with her dad to ‘Here,There and Everywhere’ by the Beatles. “My brother read ‘The Art of Marriage’ by Wilferd A. Peterson. We felt we could relate to the words and it wasn’t too soppy!”

The reception was a laid back affair with food from Amuse private caterers, who ran the whole event seamlessly. The wonderful cake was created by Tas’ mum Birgit Underwood and was a traditional Danish wedding cake made from Marzipan. What a centrepiece! Guests were invited to help themselves from colourful jars of sweets and all the decor and invitations were crafted by the bride, groom and family.

Tas wore a dapper blue three piece suit from Reiss. His wedding band was made by the couple’s favourite jeweller Georg Jensen and Claudia’s ring was Cartier“I chose this as I wear both silver and gold jewellery and the mixture of white, rose and yellow gold in the Trinity ring can accompany both.”

“My favourite part of the day was the ceremony. This was the part I was nervous about but we had 60 of our close friends and family present and as soon as I saw the guests and realised it was our nearest and dearest, the nerves disappeared and I enjoyed every moment. It is a very special moment between a couple. The party after was rather good too!!”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

I think a wedding should reflect the bride and groom’s personality. Ours was intimate, relaxed and everyone constantly had a smile on their face. I found a year was the ideal amount of time for planning. You can take one thing at a time and enjoy the whole planning process. Don’t spend a fortune on decorations. If you’re creative, get making them yourself.

We made some decorations at my hen do and my sister-in-law made some amazing bits too. Most of all relax and enjoy the whole process. You’ll miss the planning when it’s all over!”
