There are many things I think we should thank wedding blogs like Love My Dress® for. Aside from providing us all with a regular dose of love, beauty and to-die for details, they also give us courage. Courage to try something different, to stray from the norm of what’s expected or to stand up to people who still think there’s only one way to get wed. Blogs have opened up so many new possibilities to us all and I love that. I also adore the fact that blogs can introduce new names to a wide audience and show you something truly original.
Happily, today, I get to do just that and introduce you to the bold and brilliant designs of Petite Lumière.
Petite Lumière sprang into life after designer Anna Goldenberg created a set of fabulous separates and accessories for her own wedding. Anna knew that she wanted sophisticated pieces with a strong sense of style that also had the ability to evolve and transform throughout the day. This concept of creating head-to-toe bridal style that can be altered subtly during the celebrations was the starting point for Petite Lumière.
‘I’ve been drawing and designing clothes ever since I can remember,’ says Anna. ‘But after my own wedding, I knew I wanted to focus on these complete capsule collection of perfectly matching bridal separates so brides can mix and match pieces and create the perfect look for every part of the day.’
‘Being a recent bride myself has been hugely important. I feel I really understand my client’s needs and concerns. I think the main challenge is not only finding ‘the dress’ but also styling it so that the finished look is truly individual and simply sublime.’
I just love the confident and courageous looks that Anna has created for Petit Lumière in her impeccable mini-collections. From the short layered skirts and organza trench coats with sheer sleeves and collared necklines to the long-line skirts with lace inserts and those heavenly capes, Anna has designed each piece to compliment others for undisputed drama or to stand alone as the statement feature in a more understated ensemble.
‘As much as I design for wedding day beauty, I also design with longevity in mind so all of the separates can be used in many ways on the day itself and afterwards as well. Clients have taken pieces from their outfit on honeymoon or simply worn them on a night out!’
Anna’s delightful designs aren’t defined by a specific style and instead, she develops a theme or concept into a collection, combining exquisite materials with intricate work and inspiring attention to detail. The designs range through different styles – from the romance of jewelled pieces to decadent Gatsby glamour and Petite Lumière’s signature Kanzashi inspired adornments.
‘Designing for brides is always an exciting process,’ says Anna. ‘There are new challenges every time and I really place a premium on providing personal attention to my clients. I love spending time on custom orders and really getting to know the brides I’m working with. At the end of the day, there’s nothing more rewarding than happy e-mails from clients that come with photos of them as stunning brides.’
Petite Lumière is an online bridal boutique and ships worldwide with the majority of items being made to order. Anna has had the privilege of designing for brides in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia and is attending a number of designer weekends and bridal events over the coming months.
