Flowers in her Hair for a Colourful English Country Garden Wedding in the Autumn

Good morning everyone, I really hope that you’ve had a lovely weekend – did you get a chance to catch up on Annabel’s ‘Share The Honest Love on Sunday‘ post yesterday?  I guarantee this morning’s gorgeous wedding, and our first wedding of this week, will leave you feeling brighter.  It’s just so pretty and elegant – perfect for readers who have come to expect such content in visiting Love My Dress®  The flower arrangements are divine – when I was sent the images for this wedding, the first few photographs were teasers of jars with blackberries and foliage and an abundance of greenery in the marquee – all so delightful.

Photographer Rosie Anderson didn’t miss any of the beautiful details lovingly put together by Investment Writer Rosemary and Historian Ed for their wedding on the 6th of September. The flashes of bright colours with the pretty bridesmaids’ dresses and Ed’s multicoloured tie bring everything together making for a wonderfully charming garden wedding.

“We were inspired by lots of colour as well as trying to keep it as relaxed, natural and happy as possible. Everything spun off those basics. A traditional English garden wedding but brighter!”

“We met at a tiny festival in Dorset when a mutual friend and introduced us in the beer tent. We got engaged in Venice on 30th December 2013, so were engaged for 9 months.

We held the reception in my parent’s garden in Sturminster Newton, Dorset and got married a short walk away in St Mary’s, the local church. My parents worked hard to create the beautiful lavender arches across the paddock and we used loads of foliage and fairy lights to decorate the marquee.

Rosemary’s stunning dress was designed and made by Jet Shenkman at Eponine London. The veil was first worn by her grandmother and looked absolutely beautiful with the addition of fresh flowers. Aside from those incredible Sophia Webstershoes Rosemary kept her accessories simple wearing by pretty heirloom pieces.

“I love everything that Jet makes and had always wanted her to do my wedding dress.  Initially I found Jet through Facebook through a friend ‘liking’ her page, I then very much ‘liked’ her page. She had only done a couple of wedding dresses before but I loved her style and knew she would make me a beautiful dress and that I was in a safe pair of hands.”

“The design was a combined effort – I knew that I wanted a structured rather than ‘floaty’ dress, so that was how we decided on a slightly stiffer fabric rather than traditional silk. I also think collarbones and shoulders can look so pretty, so I really wanted an off-the-shoulder dress to show my neck and collarbone. That was the basic framework we worked with so that Jet and her team could come up with a beautiful drawing for me. The dress was lined with duchess satin no less!”

“The bridesmaids’ dresses were the most immediate translation of our colourful wedding which Eponine also made. I wanted them to wear dresses on the day that they felt good in and that they would wear again. I had a rough idea of shapes I liked but they all choose their own colours. With 3 colours per dress and 4 bridesmaids, there are 12 wonderful colours between them. These are my favourite photos, my friends looking happy and gorgeous.”

“Our photographer was the amazing Rosie Anderson. We couldn’t be happier and we would thoroughly recommend her. Our photos are absolutely beautiful, she is also lovely and won’t boss you around on your wedding day (very important!)”

“I never wear cream shoes, why would I do so on my wedding day? I found some amazing pink and blue polka dot shoes from Sophia Webster and the pink toes are just visible under beautiful dress.”

“Miranda creates very natural flowers without structure, just like they have been scooped up from the field next door. That is the kind of style Ed and I like and the very reason we chose her as well as being very talented. The flowers were all chosen to fit in with the ‘colour’ theme, the unripe English blackberries and purple lavender looked and smelt beautiful.”

“The jeweller Zoe Harding is a good friend of mine so she made my engagement ring and our wedding bands.”

Rosemary walked down the aisle with her father to ‘The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba’ by Handel. Her uncle then read ‘The Faithful and the True’ by John Clare, an absolutely beautiful poem.

Ed’s morning suit was made by a tailor in London and the gorgeous little boy’s outfit was also made by Eponine.

“I wouldn’t have done anything differently at all. Our wedding was relaxed and fun. Our guests had a brilliant time and it was the best day of our lives. 

The highlight has to be dinner, next to my husband, looking at all our friends and family in the marquee, all having a great time. We were both amazed at the efforts our friends in coming to our wedding. Many friends came from America, Dubai, Tokyo, Spain, Malta, and France plus all over the UK.”

“Start planning early. Weddings are definitely a lot of work but don’t need to be stressful if you are organised.”
