Mid-Day Movie – Matt and Heather and Their 1940s Inspired Somerset Wedding

A little mid-day movie treat for you today, courtesy of filmmakers Eight Wood Studios. This is the wedding of Matt and Heather that took place in Somerset earlier this year, and I’m going to let the bride tell you her lovely wedding day story…

“A 1940s inspired wedding was just the different thing for us; I loved listening to my grandparents’ stories of growing up during the war and my husband is obsessed with ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ (a 90’s sit-com, about Gary Sparrow who time travelled between the present and World War 2 Britain). From this, we started researching and developing ways we could subtly add a forties twist to our special day. Our Katy Bloss invites were a personalised telegram which also featured our photographs from our Grandparents’ own 1940’s weddings. We even researched which flowers were typically used for weddings in the era.  We carefully styled our venue, Neroche Hall (a former Church and now much loved and regularly used village hall and ideal setting for a vintage wedding), adding touches such as ration book menu cards, 1940s cameras, World War 2 propaganda posters and a 1940s scale for the sweet stall.

As the planning continued, it became clear that we wanted to make sure we captured all of these little details and perhaps a film maker would enable us to do this. We spent many, many hours scouring blogs and websites trying to find the ideal videographer, and then we discovered Eight Wood Studios.  Much like finding the perfect wedding dress, as soon as we watched the first trailer on the website, we knew we had found the one!  When we received the final cut, we were speechless. We couldn’t quite believe how fantastic the footage was.”

“Andy and Laura had captured so many special (and some very funny) moments between guests, as well as ourselves. They were so discreet, yet managed to capture everything – from the setting up of the hall and our naked wedding cake to the surprise visit of our dog! We are so lucky to have such a beautiful wedding video and look forward to sharing our everlasting memory. Our best wedding decision.”

What an absolutely delightful day – I hope you have enjoyed this film as much as we have, and if you have, perhaps you would like to visit the site of Eight Wood Studios to find out more.
