Rock The Frock – A Unique & Vintage Inspired Bridal Boutique in Essex

Hello to you lovely readers and I do hope you’re having a beautiful week. I can promise you now that however your day is going, it’s just about to get a whole lot better. And how, you might ask, can I be so sure of this? Well, I’m about to introduce you to Rock The Frock, an absolutely fantastic bridal boutique that’s tucked away in an antique centre in Battlesbridge, Essex that not only stocks the most amazing collections from unique British, Spanish and American designers but also heirloom gowns, genuine vintage wedding dresses that are just going to make your heart beat a little faster…

Rock The Frock was born back in 2011 when owner Karen got married. She wanted something different but couldn’t find it and determined to start her own business to help brides who are hunting for a more individual look.

“We’re not all about long strapless gowns that are covered in bling,” says Karen. “Brides come to us from all over the south east everyone is blown away by the range of short and tea length wedding dresses we have in our boutique.”

Karen is genuinely and continually inspired by anything from the 1950s and 60s. Rock The Frock specialises in vintage inspired dresses for sure but they also carry a heavenly range of beautiful boho and fashion-forward modern gowns too. However, it’s their genuine vintage pieces that get brides flocking to Rock The Frock.

“My love of vintage means we also hold a fabulous array of original vintage gowns, dating from 1901 up to the 70s!” explains Karen. “And, if brides are yearning for an original vintage gown but struggling to find exactly what they desire, our unique vintage dress sourcing service is a must! We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the truly amazing Dear Golden Vintage in America to bring brides their dream dress from a much larger choice in the States.”

As well as her love for vintage, Karen is also passionate about supporting ethically sound designers and niche brands. Rock The Frock promotes original designs such as House of Mooshki and are the only English stockists of Tobi Hannah and Leanne Marshall as well as being the only place you’ll find Spanish design house Bouret in the whole of the UK.

“Ethics are really important to me, personally, so knowing that our dresses are made in ethically sound environments is crucial. I also love supporting people who are smaller, cooler brands. We are exclusive stockists for smaller, independent labels such as velvet johnstone and Julie Lou Vintage Inspired Bridalwear who also provide an in-house bespoke bridalwear service at Rock The Frock.”

There’s also much more to Rock The Frock than dresses and their range of accessories is as unique and as beautiful as you’d expect. There are pieces from local designers such as Evie Oliver and Daphne Rosa and, as Karen has banned boring bridal shoes from Rock The Frock, you can treat yourself to super cool footwear from Merle & Morris and Love Art Wear Art.

The devotion to the personal and the pretty at Rock The Frock goes beyond the gown – they also have an in-house beauty salon in the boutique (trial appointments are just £50 for an indulgent 90 minute private session) and there are also regular workshops were you can try making flower crowns, birdcage veils and much more. Karen set out to create a boutique that was different to the norm. What she’s created is nothing short of spectacular.
