The Wedding Garter Co ~ 12 months of Handmade Luxury + Exclusive Reader Treat

Happy Sunday you lovelies, here’s hoping you’re laying in bed right now, enjoying a lazy morning with a cup of tea and your favourite wedding blog 🙂 Following the launch of our latest competition yesterday morning, with Appleberry Press, today I’m so very happy to be handing over my beloved blog platform to The Wedding Garter Co, who have a rather special milestone to celebrate. The Wedding Garter co have had a wonderful first 12 months since launching their luxury garter products on here on Love My Dress.

Their garters are handmade in the UK from the finest materials, beautifully packaged and delivered free across the world. More recently, they have launched a mini collection of lace garters, expanded their team and opened a beautiful new boutique too, from which they lovingly prepare and distribute their beautiful products all over the world.  You can read through some of their hundreds of reviews here from their many happy customers.  This really is a wonderful little business that I’m proud sponsors Love My Dress, and to  celebrate their 12 month milestone, they have a little treat for you readers.

“At the top of the list of people we need to thank is Annabel. “A toss garter is a plain garter in lace or velvet that is tossed at the reception instead of your main wedding garter. It is good luck for guests to take home a piece of bridal attire, so a toss garter is the perfect and fun way to continue the garter tradition without losing your heirloom Wedding Garter Co piece!

In addition to your free toss garter, you’ll also receive a £10 voucher to spend with our sister firm Britten Wedding Accessories, Britten’s new wedding earrings, and wedding hair pins have just launched.”

“We have a selection of varied wedding garter designs and some are more suited to different styles of dress than others. If you have a simple quite tight fitting gown, you might want to consider going for a simple silk garter as the more intricate and lace garter designs might be visible underneath your skirt.  Our Hera wedding garter is probably the sleekest of all our garters, especially if worn just above the knee.

If you have a larger skirt with lots of layers you could wear any of our bridal garters. If you have a lace dress you might want to continue the theme by choosing a lace garter such as our Grace, Ella, Clara and Catherine garters. If you are wearing satin or silk you might consider a silk garter such as the Ivy, Evony or Hera design.”

“If you’re worried about the size of your garter, you needn’t be.  Every size of garter we sell is exactly the same price and ships in exactly the same time so if you need a specific size just let us know.  You can either choose from our size ‘bands’ in the drop down menu or choose custom and leave us a note.

To know what size you need, a tape measure will be required! Simply measure around your leg where you wish to wear the garter. As a measuring guide – garters are normally worn just above the knee, but if you’d rather it was a bit higher up, then we say go for it!”

“The tradition of wedding garters seems to date back to the middle ages when it was considered extremely good luck to obtain a piece of the brides clothing. This resulted in the grooms men rushing at the new bride to remove her wedding garters as a prize! As this often resulted in the destruction of the wedding dress (eeek!), the tradition of tossing the bridal garter came about. To this day the lucky man who catches the garter is said to be next in line for marriage!”
