Ever since I first discovered the Katya Katya Shehurina brand of wedding dresses back at the White Gallery bridal trade fair in 2012, I have been smitten.  Part of what I consider the ‘bright young things’ in bridal wear, the Shehurina brand is member of a cool set of designers that have, over the past couple of years, ushered in a new wave in bridal fashion.  Collectively, these designers have completely redefined the bridal silhouette, and none more elegantly than the Shehurina brand.

Inspired by the major changes that took place in the fashion scenes and in womens positions in society in the 1920’s and 1950’s, each dress is designed with high comfort in mind, whilst allowing the bride to feel uniquely stylish and exclusively feminine. It’s such a strong signature look and I simply adore it.

Blending modern vintage inspired styles with opulent materials, Katya’s vision is to create beautifully crafted made-to-order garments that combine versatility, comfort and timeless elegance. Although an affinity for vintage styles and exclusively feminine cuts resonates throughout her work, Katya finds great inspiration in the diversity of the contemporary world ensuring a wholly enduring aesthetic.

The gentle use of colour, couture details, French lace, Italian silk and hand-embellished accessories create a look of exquisitely bold and chic refinement. She is often influenced by women’s role in shaping society and so the Woman by Katya is charming, mysterious and graceful, but also vulnerable and sensitive. She attracts by her overwhelming power, freedom and unpredictable being.

The Katya Katya Shehurina team are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new collection that will be available in store next month (April 2015).  In the meantime however, they are holding a sample sale between 25th and 29th of March on their current ‘Feather’ collection, pictured here, with savings of up to 70% available on gowns usually priced between £1,200 to £3,500.  And that, my loves, is something I thought you would definitely want to know about.

The Feather collection tells a story of romance with a taste of nostalgia, intertwined with the climactic froth of a free spirit. And it is that romantic vein that the collection reflects. The inspiration behind it is the French Riviera; the salty taste of summer breeze at the Côte d’Azur, the gentle touch of late afternoon summer sun. The sky, serene yet restless, turning a day from bright and breezy summer to haunted mists within an hour.

Just beautiful….

katya katya shehurinaThe Feather collection is currently available for viewing and trying on at the Katya Katya Shehurina London flagship boutique.  Tucked away in the intimate atmosphere of Smiths Court in Soho, the heart of London, the boutique is a sizable space but minimal in décor – allowing the gowns themselves to draw all your attention, and with enough room to bring friends or family along for advice. The space, although pristine, feels like an artisan workshop – pretty French lace, gauzy tulle and rich Italian silk are lined up neatly to tantalise sartorial palates.

Regal mannequins proudly showcase a romantic look: ornate lace bodice hand embellished with pearls and A-line silk skirt that glides with every move.

Modern, newly designed furniture juxtaposed with several antique showpieces add a touch of finesse that stresses the craftsmanship of the brand. Gowns hand from an airy system of angular rails that highlights the ethereal lightness of each dress.

“Brides are entitled to an hour of trying on gowns whilst the boutique is closed for their appointment. We welcome each bride with a glass of champagne or soft drink on arrival as we normally recommend bringing up to two guests as everything and anything can influence a bride’s choice – there is a selection of pastel blue tulle skirts, hand-embellished belts with a touch of gold, green and blue, powder pink delicate French lace, colour silk sashes and a variety of interchangeable underdresses. Of course, everything they see in colour can be created in ivory and they can truly transform a style to make it their own.”
