Hello there Sunday lie-in 🙂 Folks, I need to remind you that the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the Etsy Wedding Fair (an exclusive event for selected UK wedding blog readers only) on 14th May end at midnight tonight.  Be quick and apply now if you want to be in with a chance of winning.

I’m excited this morning to be sharing details of the launch of a brand new website and brand new collection of dresses from a designer I have a great deal of admiration for.  London based Sally Lacock is one of those artisan designers I was drawn to in the early days of Love My Dress and whose exquisite creations I have been smitten with ever since.  They were amongst the very first choice of dresses to appear in my book, perhaps because they strike the perfect balance between nostalgia and modernity.  I simply adore these delicate, fresh and unashamedly romantic wedding dress designs.

All designs by Sally Lacock

Following a successful career working at the high end of British fashion, Sally Lacock launched her eponymous wedding dress label in 2010. Working from her charming East London atelier with her highly skilled team she creates a unique and ever evolving collection.

As a small couture business Sally’s ethos is to produce work of an exceptional standard using the finest materials whilst providing an unsurpassed service to her clients.  She relishes working directly with her brides, being able to give them the time and energy they deserve at such a important time of their lives. Her unique style, expertise, and refusal to accept anything other than the highest standards has attracted clients from around the world to seek out her timeless, quietly beautiful designs.

Steeped in her signature delicate vintage style, Sally Lacock’s new bridal collection is a vibrant, eclectic range of beautifully cut pieces celebrating time-honoured skills and created for the modern discerning bride.  From a show-stopping liquid silk 1930’s Hollywood inspired gown to the sleek elegant Kimono style floral lace dress, the eclectic nature of this collection carries Sally Lacock’s distinctive stamp of enduring timeless style.

There are cool ‘70s prairie dresses, perfect for country nuptials, a gently graceful Ballet Russes inspired style with a stunning asymmetric draped skirt artfully knotted at the hem and a slinky dropped waist ‘20s piece with its low back revealing an alluring flash of skin and lace. In contrast to this the playful ‘50s debutante inspired Sylvie dress with yards of tulle and elegant long lace sleeves evokes the socialite portraits of Cecil Beaton and the high necked column shape of the Emmeline exudes an aristocratic opulence.

It’s rare that a designer can truly bring an element of influence from across a variety of eras into a strong, cohesive design, but somehow, Sally does it.

From the exquisite lace and silks employed in the designs to the exclusive one-of-a-kind accessories she seeks out to compliment her work, Sally’s vision is one of respect for time-honoured skills combined with romantic vintage appeal, resulting in dresses that are imbued with lightness, delicacy and an attention to detail rarely found in today’s world of mass production.  This artisan approach to her work, and knowing that everything is lovingly made in London, is a huge appeal for me personally.

Sally’s current collections include her signature vintage inspired made to measure wedding dress collection as well as pieces from her new bridal separates collection (think separate skirts and tops that can be mixed and matched to suit your personal style).

  1. I adore Sally’s dresses, they are uniquely ‘vintage’ but have a contemporary style that sets them apart. I especially love the gold satin, low back number, also I’m loving the peach blanket/shawl draped around the shoulders, it looks really effortless.
