Mid-day Movie: Jessica and Joseph

Capture

It’s FriYAY! Are you mentally switching off in anticipation of the weekend? I pretty much did that by 8.32am this morning too. I’ve not shared a mid-day  movie in a little while so let’s put that right today.  This gorgeous little film was sent in by film makers Adam Galwas, who was the gentleman on hand to capture couple Jessica and Joseph’s Spring wedding on film.

I loved this little film – the bit at the end got me especially. The couple is Jessica and Joseph and their wedding took place on 9th May this year at Brookfield Manor in Derbyshire. I hope you might be able to enjoy it over your Friday lunch break too. Adam tells us why he loved creating this film so much.

“Jess and Joe’s wedding was a great mix of traditional and classy with some original and fun elements mixed in as well. We loved the Jamaican steel band which were playing during their drink reception at Brookfield Manor. It’s not your typical entertainment for a black tie wedding but the contrast really worked. The highlight for us had to be their surprise reception entrance. The room was filled with energy at this point with their guests out of their chairs cheering and clapping as the bride and groom danced their way into the marquee.”

It’s always nice to hear from the bride too.  Here, Jessica shares a little about her beautiful day…

“We wanted our wedding to be very classic but with a modern twist so that we could look back on our day in years to come and not feel like we tried to follow the wedding trends at the time which can become dated very quickly. We always knew we were going to have a black tie dress code and we are so glad we did because everybody looked incredibly glamorous and the pictures look fantastic. The guests also really enjoyed getting dressed up in tuxedos as it made a nice change from the usual wedding attire.”

“After looking at several venues in and around Sheffield we totally fell in love with Brookfield Manor. The main reason we loved it so much was that the marquee was a blank canvas and we were given total control as to the look and feel of the interior. We were able to choose the carpets, design of the bar and dance floor, sofa and chill out areas and accessories. We even opted to have fairy lights inserted into the lining of the marquee to give it a starry night effect in the evening.

I initially wanted a lacy fitted dress, however after trying a few on I was persuaded by my mum to try a big princess dress on which I thought I would hate. In fact I went for a dress which was the polar opposite of what I thought I would end up in- it is true what they say that all brides should keep an open mind! We got married in a church with a long aisle so the dress worked well and added a bit of extra drama to my entrance. I was initially worried that the dress was too big and I was going to look like a bride from My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding but in fact the photos came out really well and I was pleased with the final result.

Our highlights include all the traditional things such as seeing each other for the first time in church, the speeches and our first dance etc but the things that have stuck out for us and we have been complimented on are the few things we did differently. We did a surprise entrance to LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ which got our guests going and made them laugh. I then did a short surprise speech where I showed a music video that my hens and I created to a Beyoncé song on my hen do.”
