Lyn Ashworth by Sarah Barrett for a Delightful Summer Garden Marquee Wedding

Happy Friday lovelies, I hope the week has been kind. Autumn has well and truly reared its head now and doesn’t the summer feel a distant memory

Luckily we are here to brighten your day and Matt and Lisa’s early summer wedding photographed by the wonderful Katy and Co. should hit the spot! Matt who owns a plumbing and heating company and Lisa, a resourcing manager were married on the 6^th of June this year at Minster Lovell Church where Lisa was christened and near where Matt proposed. The reception, complete with posh barbeque, was held in a marquee in Matt’s parent’s garden in Oxfordshire.

Lisa’s stunning blush pink Lyn Ashworth dress inspired the pastel and floral theme of the day. Nina Carrington of Styled by Nina made the charming bespoke flower crown and Lisa wore Chloé’s ‘Love Story’ perfume, another nod to the sentiment of the day.

“After trying on dress after dress I tried the ‘Elise’ dress just because it was something completely different and took my breath away! As soon as I put it on I knew it was the one!”

“So simple, brilliantly made and nothing I ever expected from my wedding dress! I also loved the blush pink colour. I had the halter added as well as I felt a little bare without it!”

The couple chose Katy and Co. to document their day and were absolutely delighted with the results.

“We were drawn to Katy’s portfolio when we found it online and were so happy that she could travel to Oxfordshire. She is incredibly creative and worked with us to come up with original ideas. We are really overwhelmed with the result, our day is captured perfectly and brought a massive smile to our faces when we received the images. We will cherish them for a lifetime.”

“Emma Jane Moore was my wonderful hair and makeup artist. She is also a friend and looked after me all day long. I’m a lucky girl to have had her there touching up my makeup whenever I had shed an emotional tear!”

Lisa’s best girls wore blue Coast dresses mirroring the shape of her own dress with Next shoes and bespoke floral hair pins.

“Because Matt and I met in Thailand we had a Calessino Tuk Tuk for our wedding transport. Steve was so cool and calm and we loved cruising along the Cotswold roads reminiscing!”

“Matt loves fashion as much as I do! He wanted to wear something that reflected his normal taste, the boys had so many compliments I think they looked very smooth!”

“The groomsmen wore Next suits with contrasting M&S waistcoats and bow tie/handkerchief sets from Mrs Bow Tie. Matt also wore his Great Great Grandfathers beautiful pocket watch.”

 

“During our ceremony, our two friends Jordie and Ali sang Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ as I walked down the aisle with my dad and Velvet Underground’s ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ as we signed the register. Our dog Jimmy sat in the front with Matt too!”

“My friend read ‘He Isn’t Perfect’ by Bob Marley and I wrote a poem which two good friends read during the service… this really gave a personal and informal touch.

10 years ago it started, almost to this date,
travelling in Thailand, maybe it was fate.
9 years ago you took me out, an official date one night,
you didn’t ask me for dessert, you came across as tight.
8 years ago we are dating, our first holiday away,
you visit me in Bristol, almost every day.
7 years ago I graduate, we take a little pause,
you come to meet me in Costa Rica, I realise I’m yours…
 …3 years ago we lost someone, I never can replace,
but you were there for me, I felt safe in your embrace.
2 years ago you proposed and you knew just what I would say,
and ever since that moment, I’ve looked forward to this day.
1 year ago a new business, I’m so proud of all you’ve done,
Ford plumbing is on the way up, and now we’re having fun.
Today I’m becoming Mrs Ford, Mrs PorterFord to a few,
being joined by such a special crowd, I can’t wait to say ‘I do’

“I wanted my flowers to be simple and stylish. The joy of getting married in June is the availability of peonies which fitted perfectly with my theme. I also love delphiniums which brought out the bridesmaid dresses beautifully. Katie of Love from Katie was fantastic and her flowers inspiring, I would really recommend her!”

 

“You really can’t beat a Victoria Sponge and I am lucky to have a friend that makes cakes under the name Suzie’s Dozen. It was perfect!”

“Emily Jollands sang and played the keyboard beautifully whilst we sipped on cocktails on the lawn and later The Lewis Brothers had the dance floor full all night!”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“We were so lucky to have lots of friends to help with different aspects of our day, don’t be afraid to ask! Think about everything you love as a couple and don’t be scared to be different! I was worried about throwing it all in but it came together in the end. I have a busy job and it really helped being off in the week leading up to wedding. I got a massage to relax and everyone was shocked at how calm I was!”
