From her studio in a beautiful village on the outskirts of Chester, Wendy spends her days creating delightful wedding stationery for lucky clients who’ve fallen in love with the designs from her fabulous collection. Her lovely little Jack Russell keeps her company and can often be found under Wendy’s desk, covered glitter!
“As with a lot of other wedding stationery designers, my business started as a direct result of my wedding in 2013,” says Wendy. “At the time, I was working as a childrenswear designer in London designing for many commercial high street brands.”
“When I started designing our invitations, I realised just how much I loved looking at beautiful typography and colour combinations. I love how my job allows me to deal with couples planning the best day of their lives.”
The Charming Press couldn’t be more wonderfully or more appropriately named because these designs are absolutely adorable. Full of fabulous colours, bold motifs and gorgeously elegant details, the fabulous stationery suites that make up the collection are just divine.
“I’d describe my signature style as pretty, hand drawn, eclectic, modern and charming!” explains Wendy. “I particularly love modern calligraphy styles and pretty florals together with charming illustrations. I can’t stand diamantes, ribbons or pocket-folds but I am completely obsessed with gold foil at the moment too!”
I have to admit that just looking at Wendy’s stationery makes me smile. I love the clean lines of the Inkwell suite and Bloom is just beyond pretty.
Fir Cone would make the most wonderful autumnal or winter invitation and Ice Lolly is just so cute and pastel-perfect. And don’t forget the classic Hedgerow range or the super lovely Peony suite. Oh yes, The Charming Press gives you so much choice.
And, once you’ve selected the suite that suits your wedding, you can enjoy adding in all the additional pieces to complete your day. From menus and place names to table plans and RSVP cards, Wendy can offer everything you need plus those exquisite finishing touches – envelope calligraphy, seals and even bespoke custom made stamps. The Charming Press is wedding absolutely stationery heaven.
“I like to think that our designs are a little bit different to ‘traditional’ wedding stationery,” says Wendy. “When brides get in touch, they often comment on how are styles are just what they’ve been searching for.”
“I’m inspired by anything and everything from packaging to a TV commercial. Coming from a commercial design background, I’m very used to spotting the next trend in lettering styles, colours and concepts. I love Pinterest and Instagram and could spend hours, quite literally, looking at fonts and perfecting calligraphy styles.”
And ‘perfect’ is indeed the right word for these charming designs.

Hand-drawn invitations are the tasteful new mason jars of the custom, DIY wedding. They hold beautiful visual interest and lend themselves to so many different variations of style. What I love about this new trend is that it always lands squarely on the side of handcrafted vs. homemade.
In other words, totes endorse the hand drawn, calligraphic wedding invitation trend.
