Well hello again lovely readers and how’s your week going so far? I’ll admit to having started my Christmas shopping and I’m embracing my inner control freak with a neatly colour coded spreadsheet! However, I’m taking a break from hunting down gifts for my loved ones to introduce you to the talented and creative wedding photographer, Ed Godden. Based in Nottinghamshire in the heart of the UK, Ed Godden travels far and wide shooting weddings and bringing his brand of candid and stylish wedding photography to couples from Sicily and Cornwall to Yorkshire, Scotland and beyond.
“I’ve been a photographer since leaving college 20 years ago,” says Ed. “For over a decade, I worked as a press and sports photographer, shooting assignments for national newspapers and magazines. I’ve always photographed weddings but four years ago, I branched out on my own and set up my own wedding photography business and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made!”
Ed is, as his website says, the exact opposite of the “grumpy, loud photographer that bosses people around, lining them up for endless group shots.” Instead, he’s someone who loves absolutely every element of his work and his vibrant, natural style has attracted many fans. In 2013, he won the wedding category at the Professional Photographer of the Year Awards and in 2014; he was nominated as Wedding Photographer of the Year in The Perfect Wedding Magazine Awards.

“It sounds a bit cheesy but my couples always inspire my work,” explains Ed. “I take a lot away from each wedding I shoot and I’m always looking for fresh, new ways of making a couple’s wedding day look amazing in my photos.”
“I like to get to know my couples before shooting their big day and building a good relationship with them is very important to me. I like my wedding photos to tell a true and honest story so that every wedding is photographed in a very candid and stylish way.”
Looking through the extensive portfolio on Ed Godden’s website and the latest features in his blog, you really notice how different all of the images from each wedding are. This is certainly not someone who arrives at each wedding with a formulaic shot list or an absolutely pre-determined style.
Ed is very clearly influenced by the couples themselves and seems to effortlessly adapt his style to suit each couple. The common thread however is clearly consummate skill combined with a wonderful ability to make people feel relaxed and happy and to capture them at just the right moment.
Now I love anyone who pours their heart and soul into their work so when Ed Godden says that he’s “willing to work his butt off to make you look awesome”, I just want to clap my hands and even do a little dance at my desk because commitment and dedication is truly something to applaud. We certainly know that Ed Godden’s got talent and it’s also absolutely fabulous to know that he’s got a huge dose of passion too.
