Almost the weekend lovelies! Are you in a little bit of shock like me that it’s already halfway through January? I trust you are back into the swing of things for the working week after the holidays and have exciting and relaxing activities planned for your weekend. I will be taking a Sunday drive into the hills to visit some old friends, so today’s beautiful wedding is getting me into the spirit with the absolutely majestic mountain landscape of Charmey in Switzerland.

Anne-Laure, a Geographer, and Clément, a Mechanical Engineer, held a ‘classic’ wedding with their family, then a few weeks later on 4th July 2015, just the two of them headed to the mountains for this utterly incredible elopement shoot by French artists Capyture Photography, who shoot for all clients all over the world.

“We had a ‘classic’ wedding with our family, then a few weeks later, we shared this moment again, just the two of us, with the photographers and amazing landscape, to renew our vows and exchange alliances again. We love the mountains and going walking together in the middle of nowhere, and so we chose this setting for our photos, keeping it very simple, and just us.”

Anne-Laure donned a gorgeous backless gown with authentic chantilly lace by Stephanie Wolff Paris, purchased directly from Stephanie’s showroom in Paris. She paired this with beautiful antique pearl and gold drop earrings that were her great-grandmother’s, green wedding shoes by Chie Mihara and a handmade floral crown.

“I wanted to wear green wedding shoes and this brand is so original and the shoes so comfortable. I wore a floral crown that I made myself in the morning.”

Capyture Photography – whose work we’ve previously featured in another stunning elopement shoot in the Isle of Skye – caught these divine shots of the couple amidst the backdrop of the stunning Swiss mountainscape.

“Robby and Marina from Capyture Photography were so nice and very open-minded to the style of photography we wanted. They completely understood the spirit of the big mountain scenery we wanted for our wedding photos and knew how to capture the right lovely romantic moments and the chemistry between us.”

We had a common friend who had just spent two years in Canada who proposed to some of his European friends to spend the New Year’s holidays in Barcelona. Only Clément and I agreed and we met during the Spanish holiday with our friend in common and clicked instantly. And the end of the holidays, we both went back to where we were working. For a year, we saw other each every six months when in Europe.

Then Clem quit his job and spent six months in New Zealand. When he came back, we decided that we’d try to stay in the same place together!”

After living in the West of France and in Elsass, we moved to Switzerland. After a year there, we decided to get married and to buy a house. One day, we sneaked into the garden of the new house we wanted to buy and Clem put me on the terrace in front of the beautiful mountain-view; standing behind me and making me close my eyes. Then he took my hand and gave me a little box with a beautiful ring inside.”

“My groom walked me down our beautiful outdoor aisle to ‘Petite Fleur’ by Sidney Bechet. We had tailored vows and our mothers read an extract of the Louis Aragon poem ‘Le Roman Inachevé’.”

“Our rings were from Ash Hilton in New Zealand and picked up by Clément’s sister, who was travelling there a few months before the wedding. We choose these rings for their simplicity and loved the beautiful pine tree or mountain engravings. Clément has lived in New Zealand and loved the idea of our wedding bands coming from there and we thought it was a beautiful mission for our maid of honour.”

“My favourite parts of the day were the vows and the dancing. If there was anything I could have done differently, I would have had much more rest the week before the wedding!”

The groom cut a fine figure in a tailor-made navy blue short suit and a funky bow tie. I’m wondering if short suits will be a trend for grooms in 2016, perhaps for those having a summer wedding like Clément? I know they would be greatly appreciated by grooms here in Australia!

And I’m a little bit in love with Anne-Laure’s very stylish hairdo.

“My hair was styled in a Ukranian braid, created by a former hairdresser for fashion shows in Kiev who happened to live next door – I’m so lucky!”

“For our first dance, we danced to folkloric Rumanian music. We wanted something fun and we love folkloric music from around the world, especially gypsy music, and we were keen for everyone to join us at the end of the song.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Prepare your wedding day together and keep it simple. You don’t need splendour, just love on the big day.”

Simplicity is often the key. I’d like to say a big thanks to Robby and Marina from Capyture Photography for sharing Anne-Laure and Clément’s beautiful elopement images and I wish the lovely couple many more exciting adventures together around the world.

And if you’ve been inspired by the couple’s completely picturesque setting, be sure to check out other weddings we’ve previously featured in a stunning Switzerland location here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend lovely readers!

  1. Oh my, I really want to go to Switzerland now, it looks stunning. The idea of doing it all again is lovely and a great compromise for a couple who can’t quite run away and get married. Beautiful images
