Hello lovelies! I am incredibly lucky to live only a short 5-minute’s walk from a beautiful sandy beach and never ever take the beautiful sunrise I see every morning for granted. I also have a stunning view from my balcony of the sun setting over the mountains every evening. So when I saw these sunny and light-filled pictures by Paper & Primrose Photography, they completely resonated with me. I just know you’re going to adore today’s little love story between our couple, their mutual love of the beach and all the pretty little seaside décor.

Louisa, who works in graphic communications and Jamie, who is in PR, married on 2nd October 2015 at Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, Devon; a unique coastal location accessed via a hand-carved tunnel through a cliff and its own beautiful beach.

Louisa wore the ‘Omelia’ gown by Catherine Deane; an exquisitely elegant style with lace embellishment that falls beautifully off the shoulders, lace detailing at the hem, and polka dot tulle layered over satin. The beautiful bride found her stylish gown via the fabulous Blackburn Bridal Couture (you can see more of their amazing couture gowns here and find them in our beautiful wedding directory, Little Book For Brides too.

“I loved the lace details and the way it fell off the shoulders and the polka dot detail on the fabric. I knew I wanted something with a vintage style and when I tried it on it felt perfect, not just for me, but for the venue as well.”

“Jamie and I met in Greenwich in a house share. It didn’t take too long for us to realise how much we cared for each other and we soon moved into our own place. In April 2014 Jamie proposed on Santa Monica beach by the pier – he was born in California so the location holds a special place in his heart. He surprised me with a stay at the beautiful beach house luxury hotel called Shutters on the Beach and it was this venue that then inspired our entire wedding.”

I work in graphics and I modified their deck chair logo to create the save the date and then created extra illustrations which were peppered throughout the wedding; inspired by the sea and beach holidays I used to go on as a child.”

Tunnels Beaches was a perfect venue, as it had such fantastic facilities with the bathhouse being right on site. We wanted to make sure that all our family who had babies could have them nearby. Jamie and I both love being by the sea and felt like it would suit the relaxed atmosphere we wanted. I’d like to give a special mention to our friend Josh and his wife Abby, who is a wonder woman with no job proving too difficult. She even looked after our son for us as he wasn’t well.”

Offshore Blooms, who work with the venue frequently, created the pretty, natural floral displays of eucalyptus, white roses and extraordinary white anemones, which fitted in beautifully with their beachside location.

Paper & Primrose Photography took simply stunning photos of the couple. I particularly love the shots taken on the beach at sunset. Louisa and Jamie were very happy with their choice and loved how unobtrusive their photographers were; fitting right into the casual and friendly day they had created.

“Emilie and Jessie are a super creative duo who did a fantastic job of capturing lots of elements of the day. We wanted a very natural feel to our wedding shots but some of the images we have are so beautiful. So many people commented on what a lovely job they were doing. They captured the feel and atmosphere of the day perfectly and fit right in.”

The bride added gold T-bar sandals from Sezane, sprigs of gypsophila and white anemone flowers for her hair, wore special perfume and jewellery and did her own makeup.

Two of Louisa’s bridesmaids wore elegant Karen Millen dresses in mint green and her maid of honour wore a gorgeous cream French Connection dress with beading detail. Their hair was styled in braids with gypsophila, plus a silver necklace with a heart pendant and their initial that the bride gifted each of them.

“I wore ‘Eternity’ by Calvin Klein that I bought specifically for the day. It was the perfume my mum used to wear and felt like a nice way to remember her and feel like she was with me on the day. I added an Alex Monroe silver bracelet that Jamie gave me on the morning of the wedding. It was part of the nautical collection, with ‘Sail Away’ written on it.

“I did my own makeup using Bobbi Brown products and the bridesmaids and my own hair were styled by Maddie Pierce from Changing Faces.”

Jamie cut a handsome figure in a Cad & The Dandy suit, adding an Aquascutum tie, Oliver Sweeney shoes, silk pocket square from Thomas Pink, plus cufflinks that were a present from his mum. As well as his best man, the groom had a little helper on board who wore an adorable outfit.

“Our nephew Joey was ‘best boy’, with Jamie’s brother Pete as best man. Joey wore teal trousers, a little navy waistcoat and cute van shoes. We loved his casual style and wanted him to have fun on the beach.”

“My brother Tommy gave me away and I walked the aisle to the tune of ‘This Blue World’ by Elbow.”

We had three readings – the lyrics to ‘Love Walked In’ by George Gershwin that was read by my bridesmaid Rachel, chosen because it reminded us of how we met. The second was a personal reading by Ali, Jamie’s uncle, about family and how lucky we are to be a part of each other’s lives and the third reading was ‘Friendship’ read by my brother Matthew.”

The wedding party was blessed with a sun-filled day and able to sit outside for the reception on the deck, complete with colourful deck chairs, against a magical backdrop of the beach and sea, with catering provided by the in-house caterers at Tunnels Beaches.

“I decorated the venue with small jars of succulents and old lace I bought from a vintage market. The handmade fudge favours were displayed in vintage apple crates and I filled a vintage suitcase full of flip flops for everyone to wear on the beach.”

“We made the favours ourselves; jars of salted caramel fudge with handmade labels with my deck-chair design, plus ice cream-shaped biscuits for the little ones.”

The couple’s very tempting cake was a multi-tiered naked cake with jam and cream sponge, decorated with strawberries, blueberries and roses. Delicious!

“The cake was made by Jenny Wells from Edible Essence, a local supplier who is incredibly talented and professional. I would highly recommend her and the cake was exactly what we wanted and tasted amazing!”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Relax! The day went so quickly that I wish I’d stopped more to enjoy it and soak up what an amazing atmosphere it was.

You can concern yourself so much with making sure everyone is enjoying themselves, but the most important thing is that you enjoy yourself.”

  1. What a beautiful wedding filled with love. I dream of getting married at Tunnels, it’s a magical place. You were so lucky with the weather in October.
