In her London design studio, Victoria Millésime spends her days surrounded by sparkle, designing and hand-making truly delightful bridal headpieces, crowns and accessories. Brides are welcomed to the studio to view the brand new 2016 collections over a cup or tea or a glass of something bubbly and this year, there are two superb collections to fall in love with.
“For 2016, we’ve launched two beautiful new collections, the Celebration Collection and the Gold Dust Collection,” explains Victoria. “The Celebration Collection features stunning, subtly sparkly headpieces and cuffs that are reminiscent of the Gatsby Era. I adore this collection – what girl doesn’t like a little bit of sparkle?”
“The Gold Dust Collection is a showcase of ethereal bridal crowns, pins and hair vines made of organic shapes in gilded metals, paired with beautiful delicate, hand enameled flowers and adored with pearls and the occasional Swarovski rhinestone. Metallics continue to be a strong trend for 2016 with copper, gold and rose gold leading the way. These metallic shades are warm and lovely with all hair colours and they feature strongly in this new collection.”
Victoria has been designing and making jewellery since she was a teenager so when she got married in 2009, it was inevitable that she would make her own headpiece. Victoria just adored the creativity and beauty of designing bridal accessories and launched Victoria Millésime that same year.
“Bridal accessories are theatrical, ethereal and delicately feminine all at once and my signature style is soft and feminine with a hint of sparkle and a nod to bygone times. My designs tend to combine a variety of materials because I love the contrast of mixing delicate, soft lace with sparkly rhinestones and vintage components to create really unique pieces that perfectly complement each bride’s dress.”
Victoria Millésime is constantly inspired by the materials she works with and that’s not surprising as she hunts out the very best quality items to include in her designs. A single gemstone or a scrap of French lace fires her imagination and can be a basis for a new design. I love the fact that Victoria keeps an eye on developments in bridal fashion but isn’t overly driven by current trends. Her pieces will be loved this year, next year and for many years to come.
“I like to think that my designs will become treasured heirlooms for future generations,” says Victoria. “My designs tend to be a little different from mainstream bridal accessories – I like to design pieces that make a little more a statement, even if that statement is quietly whispered in a small comb or hair pin.”
I have to say that both the Celebration Collection and the Gold Dust Collection from Victoria Millésime make me smile with happiness. The refined and elegant designs, the quality of the materials and the contrasts of setting different components again each other gives each piece a really individual personality. And, in the wedding world, individuality should always be applauded and celebrated.
