To finish off our Saturday offering of inspiration we’re sharing a beautiful jazz-age inspired shoot. The mood and scene of this shoot so reminds of The Great Gatsby – I can imagine the bride to be being a guest of the infamous Jay Gatsby – speeding her way to Gatsby’s Long Island mansion to meet her love at one of Jay’s notorious house parties.
These photographs were sent in by Sandra Aberg who worked stylist Scent of Orchid, Wedding & Style and used gowns from British designer Eliza Jane Howell. Eliza Jane’s style is very much inspired by the vibe of the 1920s – all those glamorous flapper girls and socialites that partied in sequinned, sparkling frocks and elbow length gloves, sporting blunt fringes atop of which sat the most beautiful headpieces. Set on the shores of Lake Como in Italy (one of the most beautiful places in the world), the natural scenic environment played the perfect backdrop for a chic bride. The building in these images is Villa Monastero in Varenna, an ancient lakeside building surrounded by its elegant gardens.
I love how this shoot captures the spirit of those times – I’ve often wondered what it must have been like to be alive throughout the jazz age.Emmy London shoes making an appearance in this shoot too (my absolute personal faves), alongside headpieces by the incredibly lovely and very talented Jannie Baltzer.
That last shot is my fave – I absolutely adore the movement captured in that beautiful Eliza Jane Howell image.
A huge thank you to Sandra Aberg and the whole creative team involved with this shoot. You can explore many more real weddings and features that celebrate the jazz age through our 1920’s and Great Gatsby pages. Enjoy!
