A Rime Arodaky Gown for a French Wedding Filled with Rustic Elegance

Good morning lovely lovely people – how does this brand new Monday morning wedding blog feature find you?  The past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy and we’ve had a lot to work through behind the scenes.  You might have noticed our schedule was a little out of sync and posts up a little later than usual. Things will be back to normal from this week – and you can check in from early, midday and 3pm if we’re sharing 3 posts on that particular day.  It’s also been a few weeks since I shared my own lovely real wedding feature so I’m delighted to be able to share Deirdre and Steven’s nuptials this morning. Deirdre and Steven, both primary school teachers currently working in the United Arab Emirates, tied the knot on 27th of June last year at Chateau de Lartigolle, Pessan, France.

Deirdre looked knockout in her sublime Rime Arodaky gown. This French bridal fashion designer (now stocking throughout the UK) has swift become one of my favourites with their relaxed and unstructured look. Let’s start with a lovely film documentation of the couple’s day. A little warning:  the music in this video is a little loud, so you ladies watching whilst at work might want to hit the ‘mute’ button before you press play 🙂

“Our venue was the main inspiration for our wedding – it was so beautiful. We didn’t want to detract from its beauty. We wanted a relaxed vibe for the day so we asked for a wild flower look for the tables, which turned out stunning. We used Rodolphe from Best Day Productions to capture our wedding on film. Rodolphe has an amazing eye for detail – his videos are outstanding and he put a lot of thought into recording our day. I don’t think we could have picked anyone better.”

“The team at Chateau de Lartigolle were nothing but exemplary, they have been creating wedding parties for over a decade and it is clear that they still love what they do. They work so hard on all the finer details and we really appreciated all the effort.”

“My dress designer was Rime Arodaky and I purchased the gown from Ma Robe in Toulouse. I was searching online and fell in love with Rime Arodaky’s designs. Her beautiful designs encapsulated everything I wanted for my French wedding. The dress I chose was effortlessly chic and cool. I felt it suited our venue and our day perfectly.”

“We are from a small seaside town in the south east of Ireland, however, it wasn’t until we went to University that we met and became friends. When we finished University a group of us went on a gap year travelling around the world and it was here that our relationship blossomed.”

“The flowers were arranged by Emma from Chateau de Lartigolle. She was amazing to deal with. I just gave her a rough idea of colours and style and let her off to do what she does best. She delivered in spades.”

“I wore an ear cuff by Kenneth Jay Lane and my fiancé gave me a gift of a Tiffany bracelet on the morning of the wedding.”

“My father Diarmuid walked me down the aisle to the sound of James Vincent Mcmorrow’s higher love. It was so romantic in the old French church.”

“Living so close to Dubai it was inevitable that we would get our rings from one of the many gold suppliers. Friends recommended a shop called Cara. It was a wonderful experience getting to see the craft workshop and meet the man who moulded and shaped our rings into the designs we asked for.”

“I had been unsure about wearing a veil until my final fitting, when Sophie in Ma Robe recommended trying the one I opted for. I really loved it and now couldn’t have imagined not wearing a veil. As it was a last minute decision I did not get the name of the designer.”

 

“I think the ceremony was very special, but our favourite part of the day was when we would sneak off on our own for a few minutes alone to try and soak in the courtyard and the fun people were having.

I wouldn’t change a thing. The team at Chateau de Lartigolle were super.”

“Ciara Daniels from Bodhi beauty in Waterford, Ireland styled my makeup and hair. Ciara is Steven’s first cousin and was extremely generous in helping us on the day. As you can see from the photos she did a great job in creating a beautiful and natural look for the day.”

“The Cake was ordered by the venue from a local bakery in Auch, it was a traditional French wedding cake called a croquembouche. It was beautiful and such a delightful way to celebrate.”

“Tim Millen from This Modern Love was our photographer. Both of us are huge fans of photography and spent hours scouring for French wedding photographers, but nothing was standing out for us. We knew we wanted a natural and journalistic style of photography and when Tim was recommended to us we fell in love with his blog straight away.”

“He was very fair in his price to travel and worth every penny. We were so very lucky that Tim had a photographer friend from Canada, Tomasz Wagner, who was touring Europe and he came and second shot for Tim. The quality from both guys was outstanding.”

“Entertainment in the afternoon was from a local band Abarre Jadis – they played beautiful jazz/latino influenced guitar music. The night time entertainment was provided by Groupe Fuzz who had everyone dancing till the wee hours. Both bands were excellent.

Our first dance track was Jose Feliciano’s Light my fire. It’s a song we both loved and reminded us of our first year together. It also worked really well as we had everyone hold sparklers while we had our first dance under the fairy lights. It was a very special moment.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“I think I was always a very relaxed bride. I knew what I liked and went for it. I lived abroad so it helped that I had no pressure from close friends and family to change my mind.”
