You should be in no doubt that all of us at Love My Dress are huge fans of Halfpenny London. Designer Kate Halfpenny’s wedding dresses are exquisitely designed, exceptionally and lovingly crafted and always styled in the most breathtaking of ways – all thanks to Kate’s expert celebrity stylist credentials (she really is an incredible styling talent, I don’t say that lightly).

You can’t help but lose your heart to a Halfpenny London gown. There is something so wonderfully British in their appeal – and we know that you adore these sublime designs as much as we do too because you tell us all the time. Be it an email or through Instagram or even Snapchat now – we’re thrilled to not just see so many Love My Dress brides gracing these very pages wearing Kate Halfpenny’s gowns, but from hearing from those of you who are due to wear one of Kate’s elegant gowns for your upcoming nuptials too. You have amazing taste in bridal gowns ladies.

‘Halfpenny London is a brand that for me, truly embodies the essence of Love My Dress – all that bold glamour and edgy elegance.’

Those were Annabel’s words, written in a feature from earlier this year. You should be in no doubt that Annabel and each of us here at Love My Dress are huge, huge fans of Halfpenny London.

Today, we’re turning our attention to the veil, that iconic bridal accessory and it’s such a pleasure to share these images of stunning veils from Halfpenny London with you. It’s true; our love for this brand knows no bounds…

“The main aim of the shoot was to show how beautiful veils are,” says Kate. “I think veils are becoming more and more popular and the old fashioned stigma that they used to have attached to them is no more!”

I certainly agree – veils are certainly enjoying a renaissance and our change of heart is thanks, I’m sure, to updated designs and an increasing variety in style. Halfpenny London veils include polka dots, fine fishnet type fabrics, tiny 3d flowers and exquisite lace edging. In short, whatever your style, there’s now a veil that will compliment it perfectly.

Veils are also, as Kate explains, ideal whether you’d like to create a dramatic look or if you’d simply like a little bit of personal privacy on your wedding day:

“You can create some almost architectural statements with some veils and I was, for sure, glad of my veil when I stepped into a church full of family and friends – it gave me some protections and I pretended almost that people couldn’t see my face! I wore the fine French spotty tulle with a broad, wide French lace border.”

Looking at these images, I think that my own wedding day regret would be not even trying on a veil at all. I was probably one of those brides that Kate alluded to earlier who disliked the tradition of veils (and wasn’t impressed with the rather uninspiring selection on offer at the time!) so I didn’t even try a veil with my gown. In hindsight, I do wish I had because now I see so clearly the balance and completeness that they can bring to a bridal ensemble.

I know without even the tiniest shadow of doubt, that I’d have fallen hook, line and sinker for the flirtatious, spotty, Halfpenny London veil in a moment! Are you wearing a veil on your wedding day? We’d love to hear your thoughts so do leave a comment below.
