Style Concept – Country House Wedding Elegance on the Cornish Coast

Hello lovely Love My Dress gang – it’s really good to be back here again after sharing these divine moodboards with you last month – what an incredible response we had to them on Instagram and Snapchat too. This afternoon, we’re turning our focus to the concept of the country wedding and providing you with a fresh and inspirational set of ideas and images to help you get your wedding style on track. I really hope you love the ideas we are sharing today – as usual, I’d be delighted to respond to any queries at all – leave them anonymously if you prefer in the comments box below, or contact me via the Pocketful of Dreams website.

THE INSPIRATION

Inspired by the beauty of times gone past, of breathtaking grandeur and enchanting spaces, we are setting the scene for a beautifully intimate and timeless Springtime celebration that is both romantic and elegant.

Bringing together a rich layer of tactile textures for an elegant, romantic and almost ethereal setting. Think slithers of raw silk, handwritten love notes on parchment paper, wax dripping down elegant taper candles, foraged wild-flowers, heirloom linens and antique crockery.

Long wooden tables invite intimate conversation over the most delectable of feasts, as rustic platters of organic food – bursting with local flavour – are passed around.

The palette is understated and subdued with creamy white, soft apricot and pale blue alongside a deeper inky blue and antiqued silver.

THE VENUE

Boconnoc is a country estate located in South East Cornwall and the perfect setting for our romantic spring wedding inspiration. This fascinating house provides a truly exquisite space for a refined wedding weekend.

The sprawling estate is nestled at the end of a two-mile private road and is seeped in history, surrounded by picturesque parkland, rolling lawns and woodland gardens. Dating right back to 1086, the estate has recently undergone a 12-year reconstruction and renovation project, after being uninhabited for 30 years, revealing the impeccable mansion that it is today.

The vast expanse of Boconnoc and the endless opportunities for creating a magical experience just demands a full weekend of celebrations. As your guests arrive, they will be welcomed with locally sourced luxury hampers from Bellamama, a much loved local deli, including Cornish roasted coffee, freshly baked scones and locally produced clotted cream and potted jams.

On the first evening of celebrations, enjoy sundowners by the lake as the anticipation of the following day builds amongst your guests, followed by a delicious and intimate dinner in the Stable Yard. The tough choice is yours on where to hold your marriage ceremony; a personal humanist ceremony in the unique ruins of the Georgian Bathhouse or a traditional service in the 14th century Boconnoc church with views over the gardens and woodland.

A drinks reception to follow on the lawn, with the crab-apple tree as a canopy, looking across to the lake as your guests enjoy light hearted lawn games. Dinner takes place in the airy Garden Room as the enviable scenery continues, with window aspects to three sides across the sprawling valley. Ending the evening’s celebrations by dancing the night away in the smoking room.

The morning after will be spent reminiscing and recovering over a relaxed picnic and cricket match in the Deer park, rounding off a weekend of unforgettable celebration.

THE LOOKBOOK

Our graceful and subtle bride will epitomise romance and elegance in her Kate Beaumont Dress. ‘Lilac’ by Kate Beaumont is a two-piece silk satin slip with a delicate and feminine lace overlay featuring scallop edging and a pretty capped sleeve. She will accessorise with vintage look T-bar shoes by Charlotte Mills and an ethereal Liv Hart headpiece.

The beauty look will be equally understated yet luxurious with barely-there makeup perfecting flawless, dewy skin and a rosebud lip. Hair will be effortless, relaxed and ‘undone’ whilst maintaining a completely polished overall look.

Her maids will compliment perfectly in the classic gown by twobirds in a soft grey.

THE STATIONERY

The tone will be clearly set for this romantic and elegant day with an exquisite stationery suite. Texture is the main focus with hand torn luxury paper stocks and foil lettering, all delicately wrapped in silk ribbon, hand dyed to perfectly compliment the organic colour palette. The envelopes will be impeccably styled with calligraphy lettering and a wax seal, no detail left untouched.

THE DESIGN DETAILS

A focus on delicate texture, soft colourings and ethereal details continue in the decor to create a relaxing and romantic setting for the wedding breakfast.

The tables will be adorned with organic silk fabrics layered in neutrals and soft pinks, the raw edges emulating the hand torn stationery suite. Delicate patterned crockery in the softest blue adds interest and further texture to the tablescape whilst vintage silver cutlery is displayed in a relaxed and organic way, tied together in fabric.

Tall, tapered dinner candles in shades of ivory and blush are displayed in brass and cut glass candlestick holders and displayed generously across the tables. Wild and unstructured floral displays decorate the space and stay true to the colour palette with soft musk roses, creamy ranunculus and delicate foliage.

The elegant invitation suite styling will be carried through to the tablescape and hand torn, luxury stock will decorate each place setting with individual name cards and menus in ethereal calligraphy. The wedding cake will be simple and stylish, a clean and elegant design feature enhanced with meaningful and romantic words in the same delicate calligraphy detail.
