Charlie Brear Elegance for a Relaxed Country House Wedding in Yorkshire

It’s Friday – and I can’t help but feel thankful after a week of feeling rather rubbish – this cold bug seems to be affecting so many people currently – I hope if you’ve been feeling under the weather that you start to feel much, much better soon. I’m planning a weekend of thick socks. blankets and roaring fires!

This morning’s wedding features newlywed couple Ruth and Andrew who had a pretty Spring wedding back in March at Yorebridge House in Bainbridge, Yorkshire.   do love country house weddings like this – warm, intimate and family focussed. The images of the children captured in this wedding are so sweet. I adore those dinky little black patent booties worn by the couple’s son Sebastian.

“We opted for a modern, yet classical wedding theme infused with blush pink and rose gold.”

Ruth’s beautiful Charlie Brear gown, a purchase from Lovebird Brides boutique in Ilkley, was a gorgeous choice – a wonderful statement in modern glamour.

“I wanted a dress style that was similar to what I’d wear but glamorous enough for our wedding day. I chose separates, a simple long sleeved lace top and full length silk skirt

“Met at university, lived together for a year on placement in Leeds however following university drifted apart and not till years later, bumped into each other and ended up working at the same place. From there, we became best of friends, eventually more and engaged in Dubai February 2015.”

“One year and one month later, we became married. It was a busy 12 months from engagement as we had a baby boy Sebastian in June 2015.”

Ruth wore a handmade statement necklace and cuff by designer Laura Rhodes, also the founder of Lovebird Brides boutique in Ilkley.

Ruth’s father Bryan accompanied her into the ceremony to an acoustic version of Simply Red’s ‘For Your Babies’.

The couple adhered to simple vows throughout their ceremony.

“Our rings were form Cara Jewellers in Dubai (the same place my engagement ring came from). We chose this supplier for it’s excellent customer service, excellent price and the bespoke handmade nature of their products. One week before our wedding, we were broken into and had both rings stolen. Via whatsapp discussion with Cara Jewellers, we managed to get the same two rings made and delivered to us within just 4 days. We could not recommend them more.”

The couple chose ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri as their first dance song.

“This was mainly for the words and fact its slow enough for Andrew to stumble through, as he as two left feet!”

“Photographer Craig and film-maker Andy were both fantastic to work with, Craig was full of ideas, researched venue pre-the day & not even aware at the venue, felt like a guest yet got some amazing shots and video moments.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Don’t over think the day, don’t be influenced too much by other people, stick to what you want. You can’t plan for everything so just go with it on the day. We weren’t expecting snow, however made the most of it! Don’t be afraid to break from tradition. No cake, one speech, no bridesmaids, top table consisting of kids and brothers (and family), parents having own tables with friends! All worked brilliant and people couldn’t fault the day. It goes so quick, stop to pause and enjoy it for yourself.”

“Finally, if you can get a video and photos, as then 2 means of re-capping on the day.”
