When I was asked to write this feature, I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t know a huge amount about Adelais London. However, as soon as I opened the Dropbox of images that Annabel sent through to me, it’s fair to say I was absolutely smitten. There’s something fabulously different about Adelais London wedding dresses and the combination of vintage and modern styles won me over on the spot.

So, here’s what you really must know about Adelais London before we get into all the delicious detail about the dresses themselves. Based in Clerkenwell, London, Adelais gives a modern, serene and minimalistic twist to the classic shapes of the 20^th Century. This is effortless chic at its finest.

“Our designs are a distillation of vintage Hollywood beauty,” says Adelais London’s designer Blanka Bojovic. “We strive to keep a balance between romance and urban chic and we always keep the comfort of the bride in mind. For us, true comfort is the essence of beauty and glamour but there’s always plenty of room for a touch or two of extravagance.”

Blanka began working with vintage pieces that were handed down to her when she was very young and she knew then that design would be the only way to satisfy her creative instinct. Adelais London was born in 2013 and brides looking for dresses that bring cool to classic shapes have loved her designs ever since.

Using only the finest silks, the Adelais London bridal collection brings a huge helping of personality to the wedding world. Straight away, I’ve fallen for Audrey, a short and sleeveless, pleated bridal mini-dress with an oversized statement bow on the back collar. Another instant favourite is the drop-waisted delight that is Tatanya where the large train is the perfect counterpoint to the refined design of the dress itself.

I also love gowns with low backs and the cowl-backed Harlow is a true classic that its namesake would have adored. V-necks are definitely my favourite neckline and the plunging depths of Stardust really make me smile as does the interesting embellished straps on the back of the dress. However, for brides looking for an alternative to the dress, Adelais London’s trouser suit, Bianca, is really all you need to make an on-trend statement at your wedding. Teamed with killer heels and a birdcage veil, it’s the epitome of retro glamour.

And Adelais London can also personalise your chosen gown still further as they can modify existing gowns for you plus there’s also the option of bespoke embroidery and embellishments.
