Atelier Pronovias – Introducing The 2018 Collection

PRONOVIAS FASHION SHOW Ruth

What a breathtaking day! Is it sunny where you are in the UK today? It sure is where I am, and the sky is as blue as can be. One of the highlights of my work-travel year is our annual visit to Barcelona for the city’s annual Bridal Fashion Week – a huge, meticulously well organised event that hosts some of the worlds biggest brands as they launch their 2018 bridal collections. This is a trade event tailored for bridal buyers and press, so from a brides/consumer perspective, these are the gowns you will be seeing in boutiques over the next few weeks and months that are tailored largely to brides marrying, or at least placing their dress orders for 2018. It’s always a most enjoyable visit, not least because it provides a lovely opportunity to get together with a lovely contingent from the British wedding industry, but because I’ve come to really love Barcelona. Every time we go, we get to explore and uncover a little more of this beautiful, vibrant city.

We attended various shows last week, but the final and by far most thrilling was the Atelier Pronovias show. This is the second Pronovias showcase that my husband (also business partner/Creative Director for Love My Dress) have attended and thoroughly enjoyed. It is a dazzling and glamour-filled spectacle; the venue chosen for it’s wow factor, a line-up of world-class top fashion models and a red carpet filled with fashion celebrities in eye-turning gowns being snapped by Paparazzi as you pass them by to make your way to your seat. But we were there for the dresses, and had a privileged and elevated front row seat which provided the most beautiful close-up views of these sublime gowns as they glided past us on the catwalk. Those of you who follow @lovemydress on Instagram will have seen some of the images I took at the show – you can locate them via the hashtag #LMDPronovias.

Today, I’m honoured to be able to share the the new Pronovias collection with you, and what better way to do that, than to share the images from the catwalk show that I attended myself. This video is almost 30 minutes long, so set yourself some time aside with a cup of tea (or glass of vino) and enjoy…

There were over 2,000 guests in attendance at this event, which was held at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) in Barcelona – a venue located on a hill that commands spectacular views of the city of Barcelona. The show was aptly named ‘Wish’, inspired by the beautiful wishing well fountain that was located at the centre of the catwalk.

Hervé Moreau, Creative Director for Pronovias, said that he was “inspired by a magical wishing well where the bride’s sensuality and radiance is reflected by jewelled and embroidered embellishments. The water is a key element and the liquid movement is evident in the gowns’ various volumes and patterns.”

That ‘liquid movement’ is something that absolutely captivated me about this show. As models made their way past our seats, the fabric of their gowns gently floated, rippled, and billowed behind them, rising gently in their wake to create the most gorgeous of motion.

These heavenly gowns made of the lightest, softest most sublime organzas, crepes, soft satins and French lace, were modelled alongside more structured and closely fitting gowns that featured the most striking of embellishment.

But what struck me most about this collection was that there was a silhouette here for almost every kind of bride – be that A-Line, Ball gown, Fit and Flare, Strapless, Halterneck or V-neck, everything, except perhaps tea length and mini, because Atelier Pronovias are all about floor-sweeping glamour and their 2018 haute couture collection is pure glamour through and through.

The ‘Ruth’ gown above was one of my favourites from the show, perhaps because I can actually imagine so many of our own readers looking divine in this silhouette. I adore the essence of Grace Kelly glamour, but it has pockets too (winning!) and those delicate, fitted lace sleeves stole my heart.

Sexy, figure-hugging glamour is what Pronovias do best however, and the more slinky, sensual gowns at the show were cut to perfection and flattered in all the right places.

There are some very cool design features in this collection, which include illusion panels that connected the front and rear elements of the upper bodice – as seen above, which had an overall flattering elongated effect. I also loved how the collection familiar with more cutting edge features, like this ‘sleeve’ design, where fitted fabric was replaced with gorgeous sparkle…

It’s important to note that this is the ‘Atelier Pronovias’ collection – which is this international fashion label’s ‘haute couture’ line. They have a separate, less expensive ‘Pronovias‘ collection. The images you see on this page are the most luxurious of the Pronovias gowns and obviously command a higher price because of it. So if killer craftsmanship, the worlds most sublime fabrics and utterly perfect cut, fit and flattering silhouettes are important to you, then that kind of luxury and quality level is in abundance in this 2018 collection of wedding dresses.

These gowns ooze sophistication, glamour and delicateness. If you’re looking for wow factor and true bridal glamour, the Atelier Pronovias label is truly where it’s at.

I have included images of all the gowns that were showcased on the catwalk last week in Barcelona and the gallery below includes the name of each gown. The collection is available, with price guides, on the Pronovias website here, though I’ve noticed that not all the gowns pictured in this post today are listed. If you see something you adore on this page, please consult with your nearest Pronovias stockist.

This truly was one of the most magical, spectacular catwalk shows I have ever attended and I would like to thank Pronovias for their kind hospitality and for looking after us so well ahead of and on the day of the show.
