Well here I am again with even more amazing news from Blackburn Bridal as this ever-stylish boutique prepares to welcome the new ‘Intrigue’ collection from Flora. I know I’ve written before about my love of this fantastic London boutique and their collection of designer names has always been impressive. So, when owner Russell selects a new collection, it’s definitely worth finding out more so let’s say hello to Flora, coming soon to Blackburn Bridal.
Founded in 2010 by designer Rinat Asher, wedding dresses bearing the Flora label are just amazing. There’s a modern, European influence that mixes with the iconic shapes from the Roaring Twenties and my goodness, the end result really is something special.
“We love the free-spirited, almost Bohemian feel of these gowns,” says Russell. “They are also impeccably crafted. You’ll always recognise a Flora dress by the fabrics they use. The brand sources the softest and most beautiful laces and silks to enhance the bodies and personalities of the brides that buy into their collections.”
“The gowns come in a whole variety of shapes. There’s a beautiful selection of full yet floaty skirts made with silk chiffons and lace and the collection also includes some fitted, sexier silhouettes that really flatter the female form.”
The 2017 collection, Intrigue, definitely lives up to its name. It’s feminine with a slightly unexpected, almost mysterious, edge and the signature quality of Flora designs is still very much to the fore:
“These wedding dresses exude luxury and comfort and are the ideal blend of classical yet contemporary styling with an on-trend bohemian twist. The Intrigue collection still has the free-spirited Flora stamp but it comes with a super sexy edge that I just love.”
“The designer draws inspiration from women that she works with and the fabrics that she sees. Rinat says ‘when you see a perfect fit between lace and the personality of a dress, a whole world of ideas opens and we create a collection! It’s the best feeling to know that brides will recognise themselves in one of my dresses.’”

And Russell is absolutely right because the Intrigue collection is absolutely overflowing with wonderfully different and utterly gorgeous designs that definitely kick against mainstream bridal in a truly beautiful way. The Camilla gown with its heavenly gypsy top or Dalphin with that deep V-neck have definitely caught my eye. Then there’s the exquisite lace bodice on Annie, the plunging backs on Julia, Lara, and Lucia amongst others.
I also love the gowns that look so modest from the front but reveal a sexy back when viewed from another angle. I adore the details too – cap sleeves, scalloped hems, romantic and diaphanous trains and heavenly long sleeves. And don’t even get me started on the embellishments because we’ll be here for days.
