How did you get started in the wedding photography world?

“Sharing a love for photography, we wanted to start a business that allowed us to work together creatively and follow our passion. We nervously shot our first wedding for a family member, loved it and the following year lots of their friends had booked us! 9 years, (and 5 children) later we’re still going strong!”

Please describe your photography style?

“Our style is very relaxed, informal and friendly. We will capture the narrative of your day, at a distance – no pushy, cheesy, posey shots. This allows us to achieve natural images, inspired by light and true moments.”

What is your favourite part of the wedding day to shoot?

“Absolutely, definitely the bridal preparations.  The atmosphere in the room swings between intense emotion and nerves to fun and laughter. It’s such an intimate time. Watching the bride surrounded by her closest friends and family provides some really poignant images.”

What do you love most about shooting weddings?

“Without a doubt, our couples. We have been soooooo lucky to work with so many lovely, clever people over the years. It’s such a joy to meet the couple at the very beginning of their planning and be with them on that journey through to the day, where we get to meet all their friends and family too. Sharing that time in a couples’ life is really special. Often they keep in touch and send images of their new additions too which is so lovely!”

What advice would you give to brides and grooms hesitating to allocate budget for wedding photography?

“Of course we believe that your weddings images are hugely important! After the day they are a record of all the wonderful details from the day. We are hugely into detail, which means that all the little intricacies that you’ve put so much thought and effort into will all be captured for you to remember. But, even more crucially, the way a wedding gets everyone together can be pretty rare, and those special moments with the different characters from your family or group of friends should be treasured. Wedding images tell the story of people.”

Having worked with so many couples, what one piece of advice would you give to couples ahead of their nuptials?

“Relax!!! Enjoy it, treasure it, revel in it. We have been at weddings when things have gone ‘wrong’, like the flowers were dead, or the cake was late or the power cut out during dancing, but it didn’t matter. The bride and groom still declared their love and were married. Family and friends still had an awesome time together. Enjoy it!”

Who or what inspires you?

“We draw on many influences but we are mostly inspired by the couple themselves and what is important to them, as well as setting. For example, at an urban location in London, we are inspired by the local architecture, vibrancy of the people around, and those details that make a place special. The brickwork, street art or a canal, perhaps. Further afield, at a chateaux wedding, we’re inspired by the rolling landscape, fields of sunflowers as far as the eye can see, the stone of the chateaux, sunlit lemon trees, and shafts of light hitting tile flooring. A sense of place helps to frame the whole experience of the day.”

What is your favourite ‘wedding moment’ so far?

“Too hard!  There’s been sooo many incredible moments! Annie loves a bride and father moment but sunset on the Dordogne River in France was pretty amazing!  We had a bride a few years back who had her reception at The Gherkin in London, which was incredible anyway because of the views, but after the speeches her 4 sisters stood up on stage and sang a song they had written for her. It was such a tearjerker, so beautiful and fun and special. We will never forget that.”
