THEIA – A New Label For Blackburn Bridal, London

And we’re back for another week! How are we all today and, most importantly, how was your weekend? Mine was lovely but flew by far too fast! Anyway, I’ve got a little something right here to brighten your Monday.

The fabulous London boutique, Blackburn Bridal, is welcoming a new label and to celebrate, we’re going to showcase these gorgeous gowns today. Darling readers, let’s say hello to THEIA.

I’m going to start this feature by saying, here and now, that Russell Blackburn has one of the best bridal fashion radars in the business. Thanks to his critical eye for style, Blackburn Bridal stocks some of the most glorious designer gowns around. When you step into the Blackheath boutique, you really will feel as if you’ve stepped into a little bit of wedding heaven. So, when Russell signs a new designer, we should all sit up and take notice because you can be sure it’s going to be a HUGE treat.

The latest label to arrive at Blackburn Bridal is THEIA. These dresses are simply sublime. Known for their fabulous beading and embellishments, they’re feminine, luxe and exquisite in the extreme. I just know that you’re going to love them and here’s Russell to tell you a little bit more..

Tell us a little more about the label

“THEIA is designed by Don O’Neill who was born in Ireland, studied in Dublin and trained in London and Paris where he most notably worked in The Haute Couture ateliers of Christian Lacroix. On moving to the United States, he was design Director at Carmen Marc Valvo for 10 years and Creative Director at Badgley Mischka for 3½ years before creating the THEIA label for JS Group International. THEIA is inspired by the Greek Goddess of Light and is designed to make every woman’s inner Goddess shine bright.”

Why did you select this label for Blackburn Bridal?

“We selected THEIA for the boutique as we felt it had that cool modern blend of styles that so appeals to the brides that come to Blackburn Bridal for something unique and different. The quality is also excellent and the fabrics and cuts are of a high standard for such a mid priced brand.”

What’s the overall style and feel of the collection?

“THEIA is above all designed to be elegant and sophisticated, using beautiful fabrics in simple cuts to flatter the body. The bridal collection was created to appeal to a bride seeking a non-traditional gown, a girl seeking originality, comfort and simplicity while still feeling utterly transformed and magical in her gown.”

What styling cues run through the collection? What can we expect in terms of embellishments, shapes, fabrics etc?

“The big styling cue this season is ‘sexy’. The THEIA collection has intricate crystal embroidered unlined bodices and Chantilly laces that are layered over nude and blush linings for transparency and lightness. Silhouettes for the most part are cut tight to the body to embrace curves of all shapes and sizes, flaring out in to dramatic mermaid skirts and dramatic sweeping trains. THEIA have kept their signature soft ball skirts in Spanish tulles and flowing silk satin faced Georgette.”

Who are brides who you can imagine wearing these gowns?

“THEIA brides are girls who buck tradition; they don’t want big cumbersome gowns that are bone crushingly tight and restrict movement. The THEIA bride wants to be able to breathe, move about easily, hug her friends in big wild embraces and dance the night away in her gown, while looking absolutely amazing, her inner Goddess shining bright for all to see.”
