Well oh my goodness, just how quickly is this month speeding by? December really is just around the corner now and 2018 is getting closer by the day. And next year is something to really look forward to because the new season bridal collections that are currently being released are nothing short of spectacular.

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to ‘Daydreamer’, the 2018 collection from Lyn Ashworth. Lyn Ashworth is a very special British label. From their Staffordshire showroom, the team, headed by Sarah Barrett, creates gowns that are romantic and timeless with a modern appeal that I just love.

I was lucky enough to be able to ask Sarah all about the new collection so, without further ado, here she is to tell us everything you need to know.

For readers who are new to your label, would you like to introduce yourself?

Lyn Ashworth is a renowned English bridal couture house based in Staffordshire. I’m the designer and creative director and the label is famed for creating romantic dresses, flowing organza skirts and perfectly fitted boned bodices, alongside impeccably cut, figure skimming and softer silhouettes. Each dress is designed, handmade and crafted from start to finish by me and my highly experienced team of cutters and seamstress.

Can you tell us more about the new collection?

The ‘Daydreamer’ collection is all about beautiful fabrics, ruffles, twinkle and tulle. I wanted to create a collection with a contemporary take on our signature style, so you will see hand appliqued three-dimensional embellishments, delicate beaded French lace and shimmering sequins weaving their way through the collection.

What are the standout features in the new collection in terms of fabrics, styles and embellishments?

The collection features an abundance of incredible fabrics such as three-dimensional floral tulle and guipure lace, delicate French beaded lace and light shimmering sequins. There are also a few monochrome accents threaded throughout the collection using black velvet ribbon belts.

What was the inspiration for the new collection?

I was really inspired by texture and light and how different light can portray a different texture and a different texture can portray a different light. Using fabrics, I wanted to mimic the amazing contrast between the two. We used hand-appliqué, beading and 3D embellishment to maximise the luxurious and luminous fabrics used across the collection.

Can you tell us more about how you go about designing a brand new collection?

With every collection, I want to ensure each dress is the epitome of ‘effortless elegance and femininity’. I draw inspiration from everything, whether it’s the gorgeous countryside around the studio (we are based on the Duchy estate in Staffordshire) or looking at special fabrics, which can inspire a whole series of dresses.

For me designing a collection is all about fabric. We use the highest quality silks, satins and laces sourced from all over the world. However, when I’m designing a new collection, the most important thing is that a Lyn Ashworth by Sarah Barrett client should be able to choose from any of my collections with the ease of knowing that it fits impeccably and their dream dress will be an extension of their own style and personality.

Do you have a favourite design from the new range?

The first dress I created for this collection was Champagne Blush and I love it. This dress inspired the rest of the collection and it captures the whole theme of texture, twinkle and tulle. You should always start a collection with a show-stopper and this is the perfect jaw-dropping gown.

Did you have a specific bride in mind when you were designing these gowns?

There is a dress for all brides within this collection. The joy of all my collections is that each dress can be adapted to suit a bride’s own individual style. I do think a Lyn Ashworth bride appreciates quality fabrics and craftsmanship – each dress is handmade in our showroom in Staffordshire.

What advice would you like to give brides who are looking for their perfect wedding dress?

Do your research – there are so many sources of inspiration now that it can be really overwhelming, so remember to stay true to your own style, as your wedding dress should always be an extension of your own personality.

Communication is key: be open and honest with the boutique or designer at all times and don’t be afraid to ask for changes. If a design isn’t quite right for you and you would like minor changes, this can be easily accommodated.

When will these new designs arrive with stockists/be available to brides?

They are available now! You can take a look at our website where you will find our wonderful stockists. All our collections include videography of each style to enable you to view as they move. You can also book an appointment at our showroom in Staffordshire where all our collections are housed for you to try. We would love to meet you!

A huge thank-you to Sarah for being with us today and for introducing us to the beautiful Daydreamer collection. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate name for such a dreamy selection of dresses!

Love,
