You guys, it’s snowing today!! Have you seen? Like proper, coming down in droves, snow like we’ve not seen in years kind of snow, and it’s glorious! Utterly glorious. I love, love, love days like these, they make me feel happy to be alive!

I hope you’ve had a moment to enjoy our Christmassy, winter wedding this morning, because we’re so ready to share this beautiful, new set of images with you. Shot on location at The Belmont Suite at the world-famous Betty’s tea rooms in York, these images were created by Yorkshire suppliers. Once the venue was in place, designers Hayley of Glory Days and Effie of Effie Butterworth set to work to gather the rest of the team.

The undergarments are from Effie Butterworth’s ‘Certain Surprise’ collection, launched earlier this year. Every piece is created entirely by hand in the designer’s York based premises. The new range was designed with choice in mind, intending to re-create the luxurious, romantic loungewear styles of the 1920s, 30s and 40s, all made to order with a choice of size and colour.

All wedding dresses featured in these images are from Glory Days Bridal, who are also based in York, and who carry an exceptional stock of original vintage gowns, as well as Hayley’s unique independent bridal fashion collection, ‘Rolling in Roses’. Rolling in Roses was born out of a love of historical nostalgia and modern romance, fused with local craftsmanship and exquisite fabrics, chic simple lines and graceful cuts.

“Upon being introduced to the beautiful Belmont Room of Betty’s, York, it was love at first sight. The concept of the space was dreamt up by Frederick Belmont, inspired by the Queen Mary cruise liner in the 1930s and you can certainly tell; its features include extensive walnut panelling and intricate marquetry, oozing elegance.”

“Ryan from Shutter Go Click seemed the obvious choice to be the photographer for the day. His unique style combines the exact mix of vintage and contemporary we were hoping to create and he certainly delivered, including having model Kate climb up onto the grand piano to get *that* shot!”

“Katy and Sian from Hula Hair and MUA Victoria Farr were on hand for the day to create the perfect look, with a slightly contemporary twist; Victoria used a deep berry toned lip as the main feature, our model, Kate, has beautiful porcelain skin and a strong brow, which allowed the bold lip colour to shine through and align with the 20s and 30s vibe. Katy used a 1920s wax flower crown, woven into her hair with ribbons, later changing to a silk turban to compliment the Rolling in Roses gowns.”

“Despite having all of these people involved, the whole look would not have come together without the breath taking floral arrangements from Firenza Flowers. Fiona managed to entirely encapsulate the concept of the shoot by creating bold bouquets to offset the garments with the wood tones perfectly.”

  1. Everyone involved should be super pleased with the result. What a great shoot. The style and creativity are simply breathtaking. I don’t often spend as much time looking at a styled shoot as this. Top marks to all!
