Happy new year! And welcome to my first post as the new team member of Love My Dress. Not only am I thrilled to have joined the team here at LMD, but also to share today’s wedding with you. A beautiful bloom-filled affair, guaranteed to start getting you excited for the warmer months.

Today’s couple Hayley, a Chartered Chemical Engineer, and Tim, a Control Systems Engineer, met whilst working together and have since started up their own business, TM Controls, side by side. After getting engaged in October 2016 by the lake at Studley Royal Deer Park, the decision to be married on 12th August 2017 was made after discovering their choice of catering company CGC Event Catering had a summer Saturday spot available. In keeping with the days relaxed and jovial tone, Hayley chose the beautiful Dolly bridal gown by Jenny Packham to walk down the aisle, a purchase from the wonderful Bridal Collection in Harrogate.

“I went on an impromptu midweek dress shopping trip with my Mum, who very generously insisted on buying my wedding dress. We were in the second shop and we both loved this dress, it’s just beautiful. I’ve never worn anything like it and the style went really well with the venue. I just need to figure out a way to wear it again now!”.

The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate was then chosen as the wedding venue after Tim’s reassurance that it was every bit as beautiful in real life after attending a friend’s wedding there himself.

“We chose it as it’s set in the beautiful Valley Gardens. I hadn’t been inside before we booked it as our wedding venue, but Tim told me the stained glass domed ceiling was as lovely in real life as it was in the photos I’d seen”.With make up by Charlotte Jayne Beauty and hair sculpted by a long-time family friend, the bride accessoried her look perfectly with a delicate headpiece from Debbie Carlisle from The Bridal Collection in Harrogate – two of our most highly recommended suppliers.

The bride completed her look with a pair of diamond earrings gifted to her by her Mum on her 21st birthday, and shoes by Charlotte Mills.

The Maid of Honour and flower girls complimented the floral theme in pastel coloured mint dresses from Debenhams and Dainty Dizzy, with the flower girls going all out in tutu skirts. “All my eldest niece wanted was a long and big skirt. I searched for tutu’s online and came across Dainty Dizzy. They sent some colour samples out and then I ordered them. The girls looked gorgeous in the tutu’s teamed with white leotards”.

The Groom looked dapper in a bespoke suit, tailored shirt, tie and pocket square all made by Owen Scott, with his Best Man Paul by his side in a grey Christian Dior suit he found in a charity shop in Harrogate no less.

As lovers of the outdoors, and a summer wedding date now in the diary, this meant the couple could take full advantage of being married on the outdoor terrace at The Sun Pavilion. Green fingered Hayley, whose hobbies include gardening and growing flowers at home, took the vibrant florals on offer throughout the summer months as inspiration for her wedding décor and opted for a relaxed, flower-filled, colourful theme; styling sunflowers in wine bottles amongst pretty jam jar blooms.

The couples rings came from A.Fattorini in Harrogate after taking a shopping trip together to find rings to match Hayley’s Full Channel Diamond Set Platinum ring. “Tim wanted to ensure that both rings would look good together”.

On hand to capture the day in images was photographer Amanda Manby.

“Amanda was great and we love the images she captured. The weather was good for the ceremony but it did start to rain a little after. Amanda came prepared after having already scouted weather-proof locations around the Valley Gardens to take the pictures. Amanda really cares about getting the images you want from the day in an unobtrusive way”.

After their outdoor terrace wedding, the couple continued the celebrations with catering by CGC Event Caterers, including fish and chips served in paper cones as the canapes followed by a sharing starter, beef bourguignon main course and profiteroles, meringues and apple and blackcurrant crumble as dessert.

Tim and Hayley opted for a 3-tiered wedding cake by Lois at Miss Friday which featured a layer of chocolate with chocolate ganache, a layer of vanilla bean and raspberry and a layer of coffee and walnut, all iced with buttercream and polished off with florals and eucalyptus.

With the wedding breakfast enjoyed, the couple and their guests partied late into the night with a performance from Vibetown, a band recommend to Hayley by photographer Amanda, and who played requests sent by the couple as well as lots of other songs enjoyed by all the guests.

The dance floor was full all night. I spent so much time dancing I didn’t get around to speaking to many people in the evening. I would really recommend booking them!”.

WORDS OF WEDDED WISDOM

“Borrow useful things from friends who have already got married, and if friends or family offer to help, accept it! A group of my friends very kindly spent time drying flowers and petals to make confetti and they were also able to bring baskets to distribute it from which made for great photo’s.”

“Plan the day you want and don’t feel pressured by others to do things they think you should do”.

A big thanks to photographer Amanda Manby for capturing Tim and Hayley’s day so spectacularly and to the happy couple for sharing their special day with us – may your future hold the same happiness.
