If I had bells to ring, klaxons to sound and the ability to insist that you all get at least the next hour off work, I would be doing all that right now.

Today, I have the huge pleasure of introducing you to ‘Metropolis’, the 2018 collection from one of the bridal labels that I love the most, Jesus Peiro. As well as taking an indulgent look at the gowns themselves, we’ll also hear from Marion Mathews, the wonderful woman who looks after the Jesus Peiro brand in the UK and Ireland. Actually, let’s pretend that I can give you some time off and we can enjoy this together…

So, why do I get some flipping excited by all things Jesus Peiro? Well, it’s quite simple really – the gowns are outstanding. The designs are fabulous and the quality is beyond excellent but there’s more than that. Each dress is special. There might be a bow at the waist, pockets, pleats, on-trend details or another addition that just elevates the gown to another level. And all this is achieved in the most beautiful way – the dresses are always elegant and yet there’s this flair, this touch of personality that makes them quite incredible. Would I wear Jesus Peiro? In a heartbeat.

And my little heart is definitely beating faster right now because this new collection is just heaven. Jesus Peiro has triumphed again and throughout, you’ll spot plenty of those key 2018 trends that we’re all going to love as Marion explains:

“In terms of the designs, you’ll notice lots of high necks, halter necks and sleeves, fringing, stylish separates, shoulder detail and bardot styles, ruffles, sequins and tulle, capes and capelets, hints of colour. Confident 2018 brides aren’t afraid to show their personality through their choice of wedding dress. Expect to see iconic-inspired structure, cut-out empire lines and rich, full, floor length gowns grace the catwalks and aisles – for looks that say, I’m here, without need for declaration.”

It’s also so great to see that Jesus Peiro have brought details to their dresses that we might have seen on the high street. I love the addition of the fringing on the gowns but there’s way more in the collection too…

“As well as fringing, bardot and cold shoulder looks (8064) have made their way from the high street to the aisle – a great look for a sassy, fashion loving bride. The 1920s and art deco inspired fringing look can be seen across the catwalks, combined with beading and lace. Expect to see this embraced by bridal designers with details present in everything from gowns to hair accessories.”

In 2018, we’ll see the lace trend continue with larger statement patterns and a touch of colour like blush and blue, or even an on-trend green cape as seen in the Metropolis Collection. Lace sleeves will be popular too, whether long, wide or ¾ length. We’ll also see more feather collars, lattice patterns and bright sequins.”

Style 8022

One of the things that always strikes me about Jesus Peiro collections is the variety of design and ‘Metropolis’ is no different. Whatever your style, Jesus Peiro has something for you. If you’re feeling daring, go for a gown with voluminous skirts and big pockets (8043), stylish separates in mismatched fabrics and textures (8020) or statement details like glorious exaggerated ruffles (8042) that really bring the wow factor. On the flip side, there’s plenty of on-trend, timeless brides:

“For this look, you need a gown that’s Simple and sophisticated with a statement piece, like a bow or pockets, like Jesus Peiro style 8007. This look is modern, chic and timeless; perfect for fashion forward brides who want to look back at their wedding photos and think, “I’d wear that now.”

Style 8053

Speaking of fashion forward brides looking for a chic and timeless look, let’s just mention the 2018 Royal Wedding. Will this have an impact on bridal trends? Marion has absolutely no doubt that this will be the case but perhaps not just in the way you might expect.

“With all eyes on the Royal engagement, there’s a huge interest in Meghan Markle. From her simple, sophisticated take on fashion to her work as a humanitarian, we predict the beginning of a new era for the ‘socially conscious’ bride. Like Meghan, she’ll care about where and how her clothes are made, and will turn to designers with ethical credentials for the biggest fashion purchase of their life – the wedding gown.”

“As consumers push brands for greater transparency on how clothes are made, Jesús Peiró is leading the way for the wedding industry. Unique to bridal wear, every stage of the design and manufacturing process is entirely in Spain to the highest ethical standards and craftsmanship expected of a maison de couture. This has earned Jesús Peiró the official “Made in Spain” accreditation mark. It’s credentials like this that the modern bride will be looking for when making that once-in-a-lifetime purchase.”

Jesus Peiro, I’m all yours.
