A Jesús Peiró Dress with Pockets for a Chic and Elegant Wedding

Hello lovelies! I hope you had a great weekend and are all set for the week ahead. It’s almost a new month and I’m delighted to be sharing today’s wedding with you as it’s held in my beautiful home city of Manchester, and I’ve been swooning over the images from the moment they landed in my inbox.

Our couple Matthew, an Executive Coach, and Suzanne, a Hairdresser, chose to be married on 10th September 2017 at Manchester Town Hall. In keeping with Suzanne’s classic theme, she chose the most gorgeous and sophisticated full-skirted gown by Love My Dress favourite and Little Book for Brides member Jesús Peiró from The White Closet in Didsbury. Her ‘something borrowed’ was a cathedral length veil gifted by a friend which she also paired with a delicate vintage comb, finished off with a fresh foliage and floral bridal bouquet, bursting with crisp white flowers and greenery.

“The elegant simplicity and smoothness of the material of the dress made me choose it. Oh and of course, the fact it had POCKETS! I love pockets!”

“We both fell in love with it when we went to a wedding open day there. I spent a while stressing over a theme and colour scheme for the wedding before it hit me; the Town Hall is such a grand and iconic building in itself, we didn’t need all of that fuss. In the end we decided we just wanted to let it be what it is and keep it really classic.”The pair first met on Tinder – a first encounter on the social media platform for both parties and after falling in love within a few weeks, Matthew then proposed to Suzanne just before her birthday the following year.

“It happened as we were looking through the window of the flat we had just signed up to rent. Though we hadn’t moved in yet, Suzanne’s cries made the man from upstairs come out and try to chase us off before we told him who we were and our good news”.

“With the flowers, we tried to keep it classic and simple with white flowers and green foliage. The Flower Lounge in Didsbury knew exactly what we wanted even with my terribly vague description – they were amazing!”

The groom and his two best men coordinated in matching blue 3-piece ASOS suits and the rings were sourced locally from a jewellery maker at a market stall in Chorlton.

“Matthew just wanted a really simple silver ring. We decided to shop locally for it and went to Franny and Filer on Beech Road, Chorlton. My ring was from a jewellery maker we found at a market stall. It’s a really delicate wish bone ring as I have quite an unusual engagement ring and needed something to fit underneath it.”

For the ceremony the couple entrusted their reader to choose the perfect reading, ‘Someone’ by Andy Charrington, and Suzanne’s Dad walked her down the aisle to Bryan Adam’s ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’.

On hand to capture the day in all it’s grandeur glory was photographer and another Little Book for Brides member Kate McCarthy and videographer James Wray, which I’m sure you’ll agree did a magical job of encapsulating the vibe and romance of the day.

“We didn’t even consider a videographer until we saw some work James had done for a friend’s wedding. Thankfully James was available for our day and I would highly recommend him and his team. Very professional, friendly and helpful”.

The bride and groom opted for singer Russell Shaun, as well as a Northern String Quartet to kick off the celebrations at the reception, and after a wedding breakfast by the team at Manchester Town Hall, they followed with a three-tier wedding cake by The Pretty Sugar Cake Company in Ripponden.

“We had two tiers – carrot cake, cherry bakewell and chocolate and Baileys. We wanted something really simple on the outside but really tasty on the inside. It was perfect.”

And for their guests, the couple gifted a wish bracelet each, made by the couple themselves as a wedding favour, as well as a wooden place-name.

“The guys on the top table also all got Cuban cigars from Aston’s of Manchester.”

“I really don’t think there’s anything we would have done differently. We had been to two weddings earlier on in the year and pinched their best bits! We went way over budget like most couples, I think, but it was so worth it.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“When people say the day goes so fast, trust them because it really does! Which is why it’s definitely worth the cost of the photographer and videographer as without them, it really is hard to remember your day.”

We went way over our budget like most couples I think.  We agreed on £15,000.00 but stopped counting at £20,000.00 think it probs went up to £25,000.00 oops! But it was so worth it.”

Excuse me whilst I go and fawn over the imagery of those beautiful blooms again! A massive thanks to photographer Kate McCarthy and all the best to our bride and groom – wishing you all the love and happiness for the future.

Much love,

Holly x
