A Pronovias Gown for a Natural and Elegant Cheshire Country House Wedding

It gets me very excited when a wedding pops into my inbox which took place near to where I grew up in the gorgeous Cheshire countryside. Today’s wedding venue is just a short ride from my hometown and is one that will no doubt stick in your mind due to its ivory palette and perfectly coordinated decor. So without further ado, let me introduce you to today’s bride and groom.

Staff Nurse Jenny and Deputy Procurement Manager Josh were married on 29th July 2017 at Willington Hall in Tarporley, Cheshire.

The wedding theme was styled around modern vintage and the neutral palette of whites, creams and greens worked perfectly within the country house setting.

“I love the fresh, clean elegant feel the palette gives to an event and it also complimented the groomsmen’s suits perfectly. I wanted our floral arrangements to look very natural and romantic. The Range was fab for picking decorative bits for the wedding. I purchased some lovely mirrored photo frames which I used on each table to display the table numbers. I then had a matching mirror which my cousin hand wrote our table plan on. She also wrote on another mirror I purchased for the front of the venue – a welcome sign for when guests arrived. I picked up lots of lovely glass candle holders which were scattered across the tables too.”

Wanting a crisp, clean, white and natural look to the wedding photography, Jenny and Josh opted for photographer Christina Sarah to capture the day on camera.

“Christina is a super talented natural light photographer with a keen eye for detail. Both myself and Josh were really nervous about having our wedding photo’s taken but Christina is a lovely person and really made us feel at ease. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.”For the stationery, Jenny enlisted the help of both her cousin Joanna Houghton and Graphic Designer sister Emma.

“Emma was able to design a wedding website for us which enclosed further information regarding our wedding such as local accommodation, the order of the day and an online RSVP option, which was linked to mine and Josh’s email, making it easier to keep track of the responses. Emma also designed my wedding menus and my cousin hand wrote all my place cards, table plan and the calligraphy features on our initial invites. I finished off the invites by sewing a little lace sleeve for each one, which had a couple of handmade paper flowers attached in keeping with our country house theme.”

Jenny chose a stunning long-sleeved, fitted low back Pronovias gown for the day, from Eternity Bridal Wear in Warrington.

“The lovely Zoe and Carl at Eternity Bridal Wear were always so helpful and welcoming and the stores in-house seamstress Ann was also amazing. I re-designed certain elements of the dress, including a scooped low back instead of a V shape, and she undertook all the alterations I requested, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I loved how plain and simple it was.”

“I really wanted to feel classy and elegant on my wedding day and I definitely did in this dress. My cathedral length veil was also from the same place and my shoes were Carvela at Kurt Geiger. I also wore Flower Bomb by Viktor & Rolf  as my scent – Josh surprised me with it as a gift on the morning of the wedding.”

The bride also chose simple champagne coloured column dresses with gorgeous beaded detail from Jenny Packham for her two bridesmaids, with complimenting navy blue suits from French Connection for the groom and his groomsmen.

“Both myself and my bridal party had our hair done by Jemma Stenning, a stylist from Vain Salon in Chester who was recommended to me by a friend. I just had my hair very naturally curled through the ends as this is how I normally wear my hair and I wanted to feel like me. Our make up was done by the lovely Emma Jane Rose.”

After meeting through mutual friends aged 17, Josh then went onto proposing to Jenny whilst on holiday in Mexico in 2013.

“In September 2013, after working away in Afghanistan for a year, Josh and I went on holiday to Mexico and it was here he proposed. After buying our first home together and getting settled, it was finally time to begin planning our big day.”

“Having always dreamed of a country house wedding, I fell in love with the grounds at Willington Hall. I also felt the natural decor within the Hamilton Suite would compliment my vision of an ivory and champagne wedding colour palette perfectly.”

“We hoped to say our vows under the oak tree on the garden lawn amongst the beautiful countryside views, having hired a rustic frame to be draped in ivory drapes and green foliage. Due to weather constraints however, it wasn’t possible so we got to say our vows in the recently built orangery instead.”

As well as Jenny’s stunning Pronovia’s dress, the other stars of the show were the simply stunning bouquets, buttonholes and floral arrangements, all created by Scarlet Lily Flowers.

“Amie at Scarlet Lily Flowers was so easy to talk to. I really wanted the ‘just been picked’ look for my wedding flowers to ensure they were very natural looking, and she really listened to my ideas and took them on board. I chose tall glass vases for my table centrepieces, to be dressed with an arrangement of ivory flowers and complimentary wild foliage, along with matching flowers and foliage arranged as a runner across the top table.”

“I hired Rhonda from Covers and Bows to dress our chivari chairs with ivory chair drapes. Rhona is lovely and the chair drapes looked amazing. Other pieces of decor included champagne gold tablecloths for the tables hired from 88 Events, and large J&J light up letters from The Word Is Love.”

With her dreams of an outdoor ceremony dashed due to the good old Great British weather, the ceremony was instead able to take place in the equally beautiful orangery with Jenny’s dad walking her down the aisle.

“We hired the Caldara String Quartet to play at the wedding ceremony and they were fab. We chose Pachelbel’s Canon in D to be played as my dad and I walked down the aisle.”

“Both of our wedding rings were purchased from Kayes Jewellers in Chester, where Josh also bought my engagement ring from.”

Joanna also created Jenny and Josh’s gorgeously decorated 3-tier ivory wedding cake.

“She made it with strawberry jam and white chocolate buttercream, and also made a selection of lots of other yummy treats for our dessert table. These included an oreo cake, tiramisu cake, salted popcorn cheesecake, vanilla cupcakes, peanut butter sandwich cookies, chocolate brownies with salted caramel sauce and a raspberry and rose cake.”

After the wedding breakfast catered by Willington Hall, Jenny and Josh performed their first dance to If I Aint Got You by Alicia Keys, followed by a playlist compiled with the help once again from sister Emma.

“My sister helped compile a playlist of all the songs we love, along with a list of song requests from guests that we had received with their RSVP’s. We hired a DJ, a white LED dance floor and disco lighting, all from White Events.”

“The best part of our special day was having all the people who matter most to us in the same room helping us celebrate!”

Words Of Wedded Wisdom

“Although it can add to the stresses of planning your big day, always shop around on price as there can often be big variances across different suppliers, and, enjoy every minute of it as it goes by way too quickly!”
