It has been said many time by many people that perfectly chosen accessories really complete an outfit. Additions allow you to express a little more of your own personality and you’re able to really make an outfit your own.

The same is certainly true of bridal accessories and today, we’re sharing some of the delights that you’ll find in the new collection of gorgeous accessories from the brilliant Jesus Peiro.

If you’re a regular reader of Love My Dress, you’ll know just how much we adore Jesus Peiro. In fact, we featured their latest collection, Heritage, a little while ago and I know I’m not the only one who’s got a super soft spot for these superb gowns. If you hit search and browse the huge archives of real weddings here on Love My Dress, you’ll see so many brides wearing gowns from this label. As I’ve said before, ‘if you appreciate fantastic cut, fabrics and design, you’ll fall for Jesus Peiro.’

And their accessories collection is everything you would expect from this stellar Spanish brand. As always, the design team, led by Merché Segarra, has totally tapped into the bridal mind and they’ve given you everything you could want and lots more besides. So, what’s the thinking behind the collection and, most importantly, how can you incorporate these accessories into your own wedding ensemble? I spoke to Jesus Peiro’s UK Agent, Marion Mathews, to find out more:

“We see more and more that the individuality of the bride comes across in her look. Many brides opt to modify the design of their dress and accessories are definitely more important than previously.”

“Our most popular accessories for UK brides are definitely our ethically produced Italian angora boleros. These offer a very practical layer of warmth to brides while looking and feeling luxurious and beautiful, plus they can be worn again post-wedding.”

The Verdi Bolero

I have to admit that I also love the veils that are new to the collection this season. The plain designs with large embellishments at the head are inspired by the Art Deco area and they’re just stunning. Also new this season are the insanely cool statement beaded flowers and again, can you imagine what these would bring to your look?

More and more brides are also opting to change up their look from day to evening and as a bride-to-be myself, this is definitely something that I’m going to be doing myself! So, what does Marion suggest here?

“One of the most popular ways to change you look is with one of our large volume overskirts. This gives the necessary volume and formality for the ceremony whilst being removable for the evening when you can either replace it with a smaller volume skirt in a light fabric such as a light crepe or you could opt to have a lightweight dress that’s revealed after the removal of the overskirt.”

“Whatever you decide, the old adage of ‘less is more’ definitely applies to bridal accessories. If you’re opting for a statement accessory then it should be singular so as not to offer contrasting focal points in the overall look.”

“The choice of accessories is also very dependent on how much detail is in your dress – a simple dress can take a stand out accessory but if your statement is the dress itself, then accessories should be minimal and understated.”

Tulle coverup

As the days get shorter, I know I’m not the only one thinking about autumn and winter weddings. If you’re planning your wedding for these seasons then accessories are definitely your friends, especially when the temperatures dip and Marion has some great advice for you here too:

“Autumn and winter brides often choose their dress when the weather is warmer and it’s easy to forget the practical side of wearing a gown with little coverage on a chilly day. A beautiful cover-up is a must-have item to have to hand, even if only to wear while outdoors. Choose something that you think you’ll wear again so that if you get lucky with the weather, you won’t feel bad about having bought it!”

Of course, if cover-ups just aren’t your thing then how about a dress with sleeves? The Heritage collection features a number of sleeved gowns and then you can have fun with your accessories in other ways. But, whatever you decide to do, make sure that your accessories are all about you – now’s the time to let your personality pop!
