Barefoot Bride by the Beach...

Happy Friday afternoon lovelies, here's something to make you smile. 

Steve and Gemma got married on 6th September last year at 'The Boat House' Newquay.  Their beadchside location chosen because of the fab food, fab location and very relaxed atmosphere. 

"We got engaged on our 10 year anniversary in Cornwall, Newquay on Huers Hut after a lovely meal at the Atlantic Hotel and when it came to our wedding day, we just wanted a personal, relaxed day with friends and family. A little bit beach inspired in a special place to us - with a simple, natural, rustic feel about it."

"We used George Mackay Flowers. She was fab.  I had cream/white in different vases dotted around. I wanted purples and a hint of pink for my bouquet and to look like I'd picked it myself. She knew the types of flowers to use, plus I had confidence in her."    

"I put pictures of us up that our two girls have made, bit of homemade bunting, and the wicker heart that hung above us and I walked down the isle to."

"I chose my Jenny Packham dress because it was little bit bohemian. I loved the way it flowed.I loved the detail, shape and fabric.

My headpiece was by Polly Edwards - I just loved it! I also wore my mum's necklace to feel that she was close to me during the day."

1920's Wedding Inspiration...

Happy Monday All :) I recently got chatting with Love My Dress Sponsor Kate Bowl, of Queens & Bowl about the 1920's, and how the looks and fashions of this era can be translated to weddings/bridal fashion.  Kate and I share a passion for this era and so we thought it would be a nice idea to collaborate on a feature and share some of our ideas with you.

"OK, first things first. I will come clean and admit it: God strike me down, but I did NOT have a ‘vintage wedding’. My interest in all things antiquated was sparked quite late in the wedding planning process whilst hunting for a birdcage veil.  All I really wanted was something a bit glamorous and different, not necessarily vintage, but the site on which I eventually found my beloved veil sat buried beneath about 50 pages of Google search results. So although wading through the sheer volume of ‘stuff’ did seem like an uphill battle at times, by refining my search terms around the ‘vintage’ theme, I did stumble across a wealth of information and inspiration relating to the beautiful fashions and signature styles of the first half of the twentieth century.

Setting up Queens & Bowl has involved lots more research into vintage styles and trends and at the moment I am captivated by all things 1920s. Here are a few thoughts on what I think I’d choose for a 1920s theme if I had my time again, starting with, the outfit..."

Lee Klabin ~ An Interview With The Couture Corset Queen...

One of the best things about writing for Love My Dress is that I get to connect with some amazingly creative people.  And the whole experience of making such inspirational new friends and contacts becomes even more of a pleasure, when the talented subjects you want to write about, turn out to be genuinely lovely people - only too keen to take time of of their busy schedules to kindly talk to me about what they love to do.
