Pink Wedding Shoes and Paper PomPoms for a Pretty Preston Court Wedding…

"I am not going to lie: planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things I have ever done.  At times I would feel like a freak for not enjoying the planning process more, but I want to reassure any bride who feels stressed about her wedding that she is not a freak and she is not alone!

The most important thing I can tell you is this:  on the day you will not feel stressed.  You will wake up grinning from ear to ear and you will not be able to contain your excitement that you are marrying the love of your life.  Nothing else will matter.  You probably don’t believe me right now.  I didn’t believe it either when people told me I wouldn’t mind if the weather was rubbish or if things went wrong.

But it’s true. Wait and see…."

It's that time of the week my friends, Friday morning, countdown to a whole two days off {well, for lots of people!} and an excellent reason I think, to take a little while longer this morning enjoying your blog visit over a cop of English breakfast, before commencing with the working day.

I want you to meet James and Kate.  They got married last month at the beautiful Preston Court in Preston, near Canterbury.  And I rather love their wedding…

Kate's lovely short, '50's inspired wedding dress was a bespoke design by Joanne Fleming of Brighton…

"I didn’t want a traditional dress.  I knew fairly early on that I wanted to wear a short dress because I wanted to be able to move freely and dance the night away.  I decided that a short dress would also look great in our barn venue and fit in with our more informal wedding…"

"I found out about Joanne Fleming via Love My Dress, and loved her work.  Going to Jo’s own website I started to flick through the pictures of her sample dresses and real brides and felt that she would do a brilliant job of making me a bespoke dress.

The whole design process was fantastic.  I ended up with the exact dress I wanted which fitted me and suited my personality down to the ground.  Jo is lovely and so talented.  I would recommend her to anybody…"

"I bought lots of tissue paper from The Wrapping Ranch, which I used to make favours and tissue paper pom poms.  I also bought lots of fabric from Favourite Fabrics on ebay to make the table numbers and seating plan.  I spent hours on online trying to find the most colourful, fun bunting and finally found it on ebay.  We didn’t have a colour scheme at all, we were just aiming for bright and cheerful.  A few weeks before the wedding I started to worry that all the decorations would clash horribly when we put them up, but actually they looked fab!"

"I’m proud to say I’ve had these shoes for years in the back of the wardrobe.  I don’t wear them very often because I’m worried about ruining the suede, but I thought it was worth giving them an outing for my wedding day.  They were from Faith and I bought shoe clips from Etsy to jazz them up
I bought flat evening shoes from Carvela to jive about in…"

"James and I wanted a fairly informal wedding with a non religious service and a barn venue seemed perfect.  I really liked the idea of having a 50’s style village fete feel, but didn’t want the overall look to be too “themed”.  In the end we just went for stuff we liked that seemed fun and tried to inject as much colour into the day as possible…"

"My hair and makeup Artist Emily-Rose lives down the road from our venue Preston CourtEmily-Rose was great.  I brought her magazine photographs of the hair and makeup styles that I liked and she modified them to give me a softer look for my wedding day.  She totally nailed it!"

"The Jiveoholics were brilliant.  They appealed to everyone of all age groups and really got the party started.

We danced to 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love from' The Blues Brothers.  We wanted something that was fun that we could jig about to and that would make everyone else want to get up and dance too!"

What a gorgeous celebration of pink!

Huge thanks to the girls over at Cotton Candy Weddings for this…

"Gemma and Philippa of Cotton Candy Weddings win the prize for being the star suppliers of our wedding day.  Not only do they take achingly beautiful photographs in a really creative and unique style, but they are so friendly and enthusiastic about what they do.  They kept in regular contact but made it feel like our meetings and conversations were just catching up with friends, and they took a real interest in the small details of the day and their positive attitude was infectious.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, when I was freaking out about nothing matching and my hand made pom poms looking rubbish, Philippa phoned me and told me how excited she and Gemma were about our wedding.  Suddenly I felt excited too and realised everything was going to be fine.  James and I are so grateful that they have given us so many memories in print to treasure.  They have captured the atmosphere of our day perfectly."

How lovely! You can see more from Cotton Candy Weddings on Love My Dress here. You might want to look up all things pink and 1950's too, and that there Joanne Fleming, dress designer extraordinaire, features pretty regularly too 🙂

I'm loving the Preston Court wedding venue, is anyone else planning a wedding there? And who is loving Kate's wedding day style as much as I am?

More fabness coming up very soon my lovelies 🙂
