Last week I endured one of the worst experiences I've ever had with public transport. Unfortunately, the beautiful county of Devon in which I reside has faced some pretty nasty weather of late, leading to severe flooding and travel chaos. All in, my whirlwind trip to Brighton on behalf of Love My Dress resulted in a grand total of 16 hours spent on various trains and coaches. It was not the most fun I've had in the line of duty.

Luckily, the purpose of my trip, to spend a decadent evening at Brighton's Funfair Club celebrating the launch of Oh My Honey's 2013 bridal collection of 1950s inspired wedding dresses, was worth every moment spent in transit. Huge thanks to Funmi of FO Photography for sharing her fabulous photos from the event with us…

I kicked off the evening in the company of talented Makeup Artist Kylie McMichael,
who helped transform me into something suitably sparkly and glam. With
my hair perfectly coiffed and my eye-shadow glittering like a disco
ball, we braved the wind and rain to make our way along the seafront to
the venue.

Stepping into The Funfair Club
is like travelling back in time to the spectacular opulence and vintage
mystique of Brighton Pier's past. As Kylie and I took in our
surroundings, I couldn't help but think what a fabulous location it
would make for a non-traditional hen party.
The room was filled with stunning floral displays by W O O K I E Flowers, and a delicious looking display of cupcakes and treats provided by Crumbs Couture
had us both salivating. The space was buzzing with excitement, as
glamorous models prepared for their catwalk debut amidst the other
guests. DJ Jools Owen ensured an electric atmosphere with his mix of authentic soul, motown and other nostalgic tunes.
Pretty Pout and The Beauty Artist
were tucked away in glistening coves where shards of mirrored glass
covering the walls and ceilings. Once guests had been treated to a
vintage inspired make over they could grab a prop and pose in the
photobooth provided by Photomadly.
As the evening wore on, and the club reached capacity, the crowd parted slightly to allow Lula Loop
to take to the floor. The talented British contortionist was a sight to
behold, and her performance left me feeling as if I needed a jolly good
stretch!
A short while later, Brighton based burlesque performer, Cherry Bella, artfully removed a divine costume created for her by Louise O'Mahoney.
The 'decadent fiery maiden' mesmerised onlookers as her hips swirled
provocatively across the dance floor and her breasts were revealed in a
flurry of confetti and glitter.
Finally, attention turned to the dresses themselves. A stunning array
of models took to the catwalk to show off the collection of nine
beautiful gowns, all made with Louise's signature attention to detail,
beautiful fabrics and intricate beading. The dresses combine classic
1950s elements with Oh My Honey original design to form a collection that is equally elegant as it is fun.
I adored the pretty pastel hued powder pink and ice blue gowns, the touches of lace, and unique embellishments. Hannah, with its pleated bodice and skirt of luxurious blush pink silk chiffon and crepe satin, became an instant favourite.
As the glamorous models laughed, skipped and flirted playfully with
the assembled audience, they perfectly captured the essence of Oh My Honey.
If you're a bride-to-be who is seeking style, but also a little fun and
frivolity for your wedding day, you need to take a closer look at the Oh My Honey Bridal Collection. Then you need to let Love My Dress feature your wedding, OK?!
Huge thanks to Louise for having me, and for throwing such a fabulous soiree!
