The Cancello Collection by Emmy London

I have a confession to make.  I adore Emmy London.  I’m bordering somewhat on the ‘obsessive’, but I make no apology for that.  My love affair with these shoes that for me, represent sheer elegance and grace, began back in 2008, when I was planning my wedding.  I think it was a forum, somewhere (wedding blogs didn’t exist in the UK back then) but one look at these heels that had been painstakingly handcrafted to perfection, and I was simply smitten. I was pretty hard up back then – times were a little harder than they were now, but I made it my mission to save every single possible penny that I could towards owning  pair of these dream shoes. I’m so thankful and happy that I did; seven years later and I now own 4 pairs of ‘Emmy’s’, am saving for my fifth and count the designer Emmy Scarterfield, whose eponymous fashion brand represents a touch of luxury in todays wedding world, as one of my friends.

Regular readers might recall I was in New York last month to attend ‘Bridal Market’ (New York’s version of bridal fashion week). Also in attendance was Emmy, who was there to unveil her new bridal shoes and accessories collection, ‘Cancello’. Today, I’d like to share some of this exquisite new collection with you, following this little preview I blogged last month.

Cancello marks a foray onto a more directional design path for darling Emmy. It is, in fact, a celebration of geometric repetition, inspired by the intricate detailing found in Italian gates and the foliage interwoven in them.Exquisite and intricate lattice straps add a new dimension to the collection whilst the introduction of a super high mule, ivory Pom Pom boot and an elegant wedge-heel gives a fashion forward edge.  This is a collection for the modern day bride. What I love most about Emmy’s Shoes is the sheer sense of luxury you feel when you step foot in a pair. These are shoes that have been honed in design to absolute perfection – the fit is so comfortable – I should know, I spent about 12 hours in a 4″ pair on my wedding day! The other thing I adore about this brand is the designer. Emmy lives and breaths beautiful shoes. She is beyond passionate about helping make a woman feel amazing by adding that all important finishing touch to her wedding day outfit. Whether your looking for something to elevate your height to make you feel glamorous and statuesque, or the sparkliest most elegant pair of flats you ever will see. Perhaps a bootee to flash under a 50’s style floor length full circle skirt, or a strappy peeptoe with exquisitely hand-beaded design detail – Emmy has taken care to appeal to a range of tastes with her beautiful new Cancello collection, whilst maintaining a strong signature  style throughout.

I mean, I’ve said it before, but you can tell a pair of Emmy shoes a mile off. They are quite something else.

“Have a look at the shoes you have in your closet and there’ll probably be a common ground, whether it’s a heel height or the toe shape – this will give you an idea of your comfort zone and we encourage brides to stick within that on their wedding day. Being a bride is about being you but the best you – if you’re not comfortable on the day, it really shows.”

“That being said, do have a open mind! Sometimes what you imagine you want, much like the dress, actually isn’t want you end up going for.  Our boutique is quite an intimate space, it’s quite nice to focus on your thoughts and not the opinions of six of your friends. Bring your Mum and a trusted-friend and relax into the experience. Or if you fancy, just come on your own!”

“Lastly, if you’re having your nails painted a certain colour on the day then it might be worth doing this for the consultation so you can see how various colours work with your chosen shade. Also, don’t wear black tights! Wear something that you can pull or roll up so you can get the idea of how the shoe will look.”
