Blackburn Bridal Couture is a luxury bridal boutique based in Blackheath London. Just fifteen minutes from Central London, this beautiful boutique, with its warm welcome and opulent feel, provides brides with a haven of tranquillity and calm.

Blackburn Bridal are for the fashion-forward bride – their gowns are cool, elegant, edgy and bohemian. These are gowns for the bride who can’t wait to show off her dress with confidence.

Born and raised in South East London, founder Russell Blackburn showed a love of fashion from an early age. Following ten successful years as Fashion Director at ‘You & Your Wedding Magazine’, in 2005 Russell fulfilled a lifelong dream of launching his own bridal business. It would go on to become one of Britain’s most successful independent bridal boutiques.

Absolutely the best experience we have had by far - there was no rush, the bridal stylist listened to the bride really well and the designer was in the shop to help describe how the dress design could be tweaked best to fit her! Russell even offered to have one of the overskirts become detachable so she could have a different ceremony and evening look. I came in for a “VIP appointment” on a Sunday. I am not exaggerating when I say I couldn’t ask for a better experience. It was the best bridal experience I’ve had. I had two bridal stylists helping me and both were passionate about their job. Honest opinions, relaxing, creative and open minded, and welcoming. You were in focus and not the sale. I felt great during the session which is rare. Not the shallow compliments & the team didn’t push the sale afterwards. They saw what looked good on my body and helped me find the best shape possible. How much do your dresses cost?

We offer bridal collections to suite a wide range of bridal budgets. Our dresses start from £1,600 and go up to £5,500.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, our boutique runs a by appointment only service. Please complete our booking enquiry form here. If you would prefer to speak directly to one of our stylists please call 0208 2971188 or email [email protected]. We will get back to you within 48 hours to discuss booking your appointment.

What underwear and shoes should I bring?

We recommend wearing appropriate underwear to your appointment to ensure you can visualise the dresses to their full potential. Nude underwear is best along with a strapless bra. We provide shoes for you to try on during your appointment so unless you have already chosen your wedding shoes please don’t feel you need to bring anything with you. Please avoid fake tanning ahead of your appointment and keep make-up to a minimum, this ensures our dresses are kept in pristine condition for our brides.

Do you offer fittings and alterations?

We have a handful of extremely talented local freelance seamstresses that our brides use throughout the year and are very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to fitting our dresses. Once you have ordered your dress with us we can connect you with one of our recommended seamstresses that you can then contact privately to arrange your fittings going forwards. Alteration costs are in addition to the price of your dress and are paid directly to the seamstress. We typically suggest allowing 6-8 weeks for the fittings process. Once your dress is ready for collection you can visit the boutique, try on your dress and take it away with you for your private fittings. Upon your first fitting your seamstress will provide you with a quote for the alterations work to be undertaken.

Of course you are welcome to carry out fittings with a private seamstress of your own choice (ideal if you have travelled from further afield or internationally.) All of the above can be discussed in much more detail during your appointment.

How do I pay for my dress?

If you have found your dress huge congratulations! The next step is to pay your 50% desposit to start the production of your gown. Once this deposit has been made we make contact with your dress designer and send across your measurements and photos. At this point we will be given an estimated date of arrival for your dress which we will advise you of by email.

Unless you are having a rush order your dress can take approximately 8-10 months to be made. Please note at this time the ETA date is a guide only and not guaranteed.

Once we receive your dress in store we will be in contact with you to take the remaining 50% balance payment and to book in a date for you to come in to try on and collect your dress.

Please note if you live abroad we highly advise you wait until we have physically received your dress in store before booking flights.

What happens during an appointment, how long are they and should I bring someone with me?

Our appointments last an hour. During this time you will meet with one of our bridal stylists. We offer very consultative appointments, initially we sit down and have a brief chat to find out the details of your big day, this helps to give us a picture of the overall look and feel of the day. We discuss shapes and silhouettes and start the process of helping you to select a number of dresses from our collection to try.

We aim to make your appointments with us as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, due to current Covid regulations we can only accomodate 1 guest. However we are more than happy for you to include other family or friends via a video call. We love children and dogs but sadly we can’t accommodate them at our bridal appointments.

We charge an appointment fee of £30 for first appointments. This fee is redeemable against your dress purchase. Please note appointment fees are non-refundable.

Our VIP appointments are hosted by boutique owner Russell Blackburn. These appointments are perfect if you’re looking for a hands on consultative approach to finding your dress. VIP appointments are completely private as you have exclusive use of the boutique for an hour and a half, you and your guests can also enjoy a bottle of bubbly. VIP appointments are priced at £75 on Sundays and £35 midweek.
