A 60s Chic Rock n’ Roll Bride On Her Jetset Honeymoon was last modified: December 15th, 2014 by Annabel

“It’s the late 1960’s and this upper class beauty brings her newlywed English rockstar husband for a weekend of love and joy at the family castle. We can call them Estelle and John. It’s actually the early morning after the wedding and as they arrive in the sunset, still dressed up, the butler is setting up and waiting to greet them.

They have no duties to see to, no responsibility – a whole day in the nightgown, loads of sweets and poems.. and a candle-lit dinner served in the meadow on the hill.

This will be their honeymoon….”

Gold sparkly wedding shoes

Oh sweet Lord! where do I even start with this one?!?

I’ve loving the work of Madelin Downey for sometime now, and have featured her gorgeous inspirational work several times on Love My Dress already.  Madeline has teamed up with Maria Ahlin to work on a new creative outlet called Vintage Honeymoon, and this photoshoot is one of their latest projects. And isn’t it exquisite?  I mean, really; the movement in that dress, those gold sparkly shoes, the cute little doggy and the whole rock n roll meets 60’s chic, relaxed vibe of it all.

Maria is responsible for the creation of all the jewllery and accessories in this shoot by the way.  I also adore the silver, gold and pale blue hues…

“Our colour palette involved lavander dusty blue, creme and silver…”

Madelin contacted me recently to ask if I would like to features this photoshoot.  Oh how I love it when that happens – gorgeous photographs and an amazing team behind them, who want the culmination of their shared cretaive talents to be showed cased on Love My Dress.  Wait a minute, did that really happen there? I sometimes don’t feel worthy, such is the gorgeousness of these…

“We made this photoshoot with the vision of something French, classy and rock n’ roll – think the 60’s, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, sportscars and decadence, a candle light dinner with a butler and a french bulldog.”

The styling and photography is heavenly but I love the way the creative team came up with a love story/honeymoon concept to contextualise things.  It is delight too, to feature once more the work of talented Swedish Photographer, Alicia Swedenborg

Pale blue wedding dress

Gold wedding shoes

Unutterably gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Makes me want to go and renew my vows in a field! With Ebbe the bulldog as our witness :)

Huge big quantities of love and thanks to the creative team behind these gorgeous inspirational images, but extra special thanks to Photographer Alicia Swedenborg and creative duo Maria and Madeline of Vintage Honeymoon. Madelin, when are you coming to the UK next? We have to meet!

Do you like these images? I adore the pale blue wedding dress used in this shoot. Are any of my readers considering wearing something non-traditional like this? What about a celebration in a field? Or even a rockstar husband {actually I do have an actual rockstar husband waiting to be blogged – watch this space!}.

  1. How BEAUTIFUL! What a lovely sight to wake up to, thank you for sourcing such gorgeousness to feast our eyes on! sigh!!! I adore the pink rose bouquet against the blue dress especially.

  2. Divine! Where did the jewelery come from that is worn with the blue dress? I think that might be perfect for my wedding in May! X

  3. Morning girls! Quick reply as I get my girls ready for School/the day ahead – the jewllery is all by Maria Mahlin who collaborated with Madelin Downey in styling this shoot. Together they run the Vintage Honeymoon blog – see link in credits above :)
Maria, do you ship your designs to the UK?
    Hope this helps!

  4. I think this may just be one of my most favourite articles on here EVER.
Utterly, utterly beautiful. The dresses, the shoes, the styling, the little pooch. It’s all so gorgeous.
Wonderful. It brightened up a grey, damp and cold morning here in Leeds.

  5. Absolutely divine, so much to love about this, so wishing I had a wedding dress like that last dress with the gold shoes!

  6. The baby blue velvet ribbon in her hair…divine! This is probably the most inspirational styled shoot I’ve seen. Absolutely wonderful and utterly dreamy, thanks Annabel! x

  7. ‘Estelle and John’ are gorgeous and what a cleverly executed photoshoot. My fave dress by far is that blue one, what girl wouldn’t want to dance around in that at her wedding?

  8. Georgina – I would definitely most certainly have danced for hours in that that dres!!
Elizabeth – I want a day like this too!!!! I love you are a dreamer like me :)
Maria M – I think you should look through it all again and work out your best bit and share ;)

  9. We are so honored! Thank you all for your comments :D I dont make the jewelry unfortunately, they are from our private jewely “treasure” box. Xx Maria Ahlin, one of the stylists.

  10. I have to admit that I usually flick past the styled shoots on blogs, I tend to find them a bit flat and soul-less compared to the real life weddings.
However, this is stunning…that blue dress is beautiful, the French bulldog is the cutest thing ever…but I think you are right Annabel, it is the story that the shoot has been based around which makes this far more accessible and really draws you in.
Finally, I’m loving that picture of the artichokes…anyone else thinking they would look ace in a bridal bouquet??

  11. Earl grey tea in hand, radio 4 playing and LMD blog – I have just lost myself for 20mins studying every detail of these images. This has to be the most refreshing, idyllic photoshoot ever. The blue dress is so dreamy and the shoes ladies, the gold shoes – this is what my heaven looks like!!!

  12. Hello girls,
